A huge congratulations to Didcot Town goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell and partner Els, who have announced that they will be expecting their first child later this year.
Everyone at Didcot Town would like to congratulate them both on the fantastic news.
It is with great sadness to let you know our beloved family member Robert Worth, affectionately known as Bob passed away whilst attending the Didcot Town game yesterday. Bob was a special member of our family and will be remembered fondly as we reminisce on so many great stories with him being our minibus driver but more than that our friend, supporter and part of the family.
Stories in particular with the tour to Macclesfield, getting sent off at Bracknell and none more so when I asked if he wanted to take Emma Rushton, Tori Eadle, Tracey Thomas and a bus load of “nearly” middle aged randy women to celebrate Emma’s birthday to Butlins in Bognor Regis. He came back traumatised so much so that i couldn’t let him do the return pick up and selfishly took that myself 😊.
Bob was an instant hit with our students. In particular Lewy McKirnan and Ryan Jones as well as the many lads that played for the first team at Diddy and especially our Academy Manager, Harley Giles. The pair would chat for ages putting the world to right and talking about the tv show the chase amongst other shows.
Our thoughts go out to all of his family and friends and everyone at Didcot Town FC.
Bob, your infectious smile and demeanour won’t be forgotten as well as the legacy of stories you have given us.
Sleep well my friend.
Everyone at Procision Oxford and beyond.
Sadly, on Saturday, we lost a true character at Didcot Town FC.
Bob Worth was a huge character at the club and he will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Once again, we would like to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends from everyone at Didcot Town.
We would like to thank everyone from the football family for their well wishes yesterday and today and those that have left flowers at the club.
We would also like to thank Vicky, who is a parent from our youth system, who was there and on hand to help as well as the the physio staff from both Didcot Town and @WillandRovers for their quick response and doing everything they could for Bob.
The quick response from the emergency services.
Bob, you will be missed by everyone at the Loop Meadow Stadium.
RIP
Didcot Town is mourning the death this evening of a regular supporter of the club.
The supporter died following a medical emergency at our home game with Willand Rovers this afternoon
The thoughts of everyone at Didcot Town are with the family and friends of the supporter and out of respect to them, we wil not announce his name this evening until they have had an opportunity to speak with the relatives and friends.
Following the sudden passing of Norman Carnell last week, we had planned to remember him at the game today.
Luke Carnell had done a piece in the programme about his grandad and we wanted to make sure those words were shared.
From Luke:
"This past week has been very tough for us as a family, having taken the phone call from my dad to tell me my grandad (most of whom will know him by the nickname “fossil” and wouldn’t have a clue his real name was Norman) had passed away out of the blue.
With him having phoned me during my drive down to Mousehole Friday evening and the fact he was genuinely gutted he couldn’t make the trip down himself it never crossed my mind to travel back having not played for him as that would have been his wish however hard the afternoon turned out to be for various reasons.
He’s been with me throughout my whole footballing career over around 28 years. Cleaning my boots for 99% of the time and travelling up and down the country alongside my dad with no complaints ever apart from when a club doesn’t have 3 or more mars bars in stock for him to consume during the game!! He really was one of a kind.
I can’t thank everyone associated with the club enough for their support this past week. My team mates who were with me when I took the devastating call, to Jamie and his management staff who have checked on me and my family since as well as fans and people around the club who made the effort to give their best wishes in person and through messages.
The lovely tribute Daz and the social media personnel kindly put out on what would have been his 85th birthday, prompted both former team mates and managers of mine to get in touch with myself and family members to remind us just how special my Grandad was and helped lighten up what has been a dark time for us.
Thanks again and it’s a shame today is off as we were all looking forward to the game with quite a few friends and family due to attend as the club remembered Grandad."
Cheers
