Kidding aside, Happy Mother’s Day to all the women out there who mother in so many different ways, including all the aunties, grandmas, friends, and honorary mamas who help us all. It truly takes a village. You are inspiring to me, and I hope you get to enjoy the day. 💐

I also know this day can feel heavy for many. My first Mother’s Day as mom was also my first Mother’s Day after losing my mom, and it’s been hard ever since. I miss my Mom a lot on days like today. For those that feel similar, I hope the day lands gently for you 🙏

Thirteen years ago today, on May 2nd, 2013, the Rhode Island Legislature legalized same-sex marriage. My wife Jenna and I had the honor of being present in the House chamber that day with our dear friend Rep. Chris Blazejewski, who gave this speech about our wedding day.

Even though we met and fell in love here, we had to leave to get married, because it wasn’t legal then. Today, I am thinking about all the people, advocates, legislators, and groups that worked so hard to make my marriage (and so many others) a reality, and especially those that are no longer with us ❤️ #loveislove #TeamKim
