1/ One of the most significant research papers of the last year is the Toolformer paper. It provides evidence that "Language Models [e.g. GPT-4] Can Teach Themselves to Use Tools" https://t.co/766FHZ8vbL
@anne_e_currie @HertfordshireCS@cori_crider This is why one of my benevolently challenging questions to developers early on is: and what if everyone used this?
This is a brilliant little course by Zebra company Etrify that helps small businesses get their head around net-zero and what they can do immediately to bring down their emmissions. Recommend:

This is breaking my brain on so many levels. Speaks to the use and the limits of ethics boards, but also the sheer techno-optimism and opportunism of this idea...

@rachelcoldicutt Yes yes yes to this convo; we talk abt this in the Zebra community a lot. I'm really into the idea of cohort funding - an initial core investment in orgs exploring a new space in different ways, then some kind of profit sharing model with flow of resources and ideas built in.
@rachelcoldicutt @doteveryone And people on the ground need quick and fast ways to ask themselves questions about consequences relevant to their survival
@rachelcoldicutt @doteveryone You're absolutely right, bad title, but that was what I was trying to say; the world is changing and there will only be more examples of people on the ground in impossible situations adapting, but original designs will probably still be done from places of norm and privilege
@rachelcoldicutt @doteveryone But your points on battlefield adaptions and ingenuity are well taken, and conditions like this will probably only increase with climate disasters and other scenarios where the norms of design aren't relevant. I wonder if it's an 'extreme scenarios' version that's needed?
@rachelcoldicutt @doteveryone Thanks for this very thoughtful tweet @rachelcoldicutt, sorry for the delayed response was on a twitter hiatus. The question of 'who by' terrifies me, I wouldn't like to see aggressors being able to better understand and mitigate consequences to themselves.
💙💛How can you support colleagues going through hell in a war zone? My latest for @TheNewStack gave me a chance to look to the helpers to learn what teammates in #Ukraine are actually asking for right now.
With so much to be done, ask first. Then share.
