@StevieVanZandt The film is tremendous. Definitely one of the great rock documentaries ever.
Will we see a 4k or blu-ray release? Let’s hope so, because this one is a keeper.
Also, is the Count Basie film from 2023 still coming? Looking forward to it!
The reason Nazis and other repressive regimes banned books was to be able to further dehumanize and marginalize certain groups of people. That’s what book banning does. This is more of the right wing’s way of ostracizing their fellow human beings based on their differences. This leads to further prejudices, violence and hatred. It starts with book banning. https://t.co/NXqdnp1LyJ
@trekkiebill The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, NOT as a moral standard, but as a social contract. If someone does not abide by the terms of the contract, they are not covered by it. In other words, the intolerant aren't deserving of your tolerance.
Trying to be “fair” or “civil” to the radical right is NOT a winning strategy, for Democrats OR for America. The radical Republican right has gone out of their way to prove themselves corrupt cheaters with no regard for civility. It’s past time to go nuclear to save our country.
“There is a cult of ignorance... The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” -Isaac Asimov
Get political. Your health, your finances, your rights, your future, your childrens' future, and the survival of our planet are all at stake. It's much later than you think.
At Moms for Liberty's Philadelphia event, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) says dictators like Hitler, Stalin and Mao are being taken out of context and promotes reading their writings.
"...It is time for us to get back and start reading some of those quotes."
...your committed base of support can be made to come out -- and equally important, the other guy's base can remain unexcited -- you are most likely to win. The magical, imagined rush of the indifferent and apolitical to your side because you handed them some cash? Good luck.
...too enobled and naive. Look at the absurdity of working class Americans rushing to Reagan or Trump, who offer policies absolutely destructive to the working and middle classes. When indifferent voters decide to follow a populist, bad shit happens. When the people who are...
Elections in America are won by motivating your existing base to come out and discouraging the other guy's base from coming out. Trying to pretend that the center isn't what is, and can all be delivered to your base because of a given policy in a given moment is way...
Miles loves going to school with his brothers.
But @HouseGOP wants to cut #IDEA funding that allows our kids with disabilities, like Miles, to be included.
Don't let them get away with forcing our kids to pay for their manufactured #DebtCeilingCrisis!

@thescreendoor There’s a new book out that I cannot recommend more highly: “Ghosts of the Orphanage” by Christine Kenneally. It elaborates on her excellent Buzzfeed article from a few years ago. Compelling read, and a very important book.
@thescreendoor It’s worth keeping in mind that the term “trickle-down” was a joke by humorist Will Rogers, decades before the Reagan people tried to make it real. It was literally a joke.
