In case any of my SoCal AT friends need some negotiating ammo, here’s what the CIF pays a commissioner. I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but also if an AT is required for section playoffs or championships, there shouldn’t be an issue paying the appropriate per diem rate.
The guy squirting water into Zach Ertz’s mouth is Joe O’Pella. He’s an athletic trainer that’s been with the team for over 15 years at this point.
NFL teams don’t really have water boys, athletic trainers are usually the ones responsible for having water on the practice field and during games, but this post is absolutely hilarious.
A guy who rehabbed my ACL tear in my second year, has a masters degree from Pitt, and has years of experience keeping Eagles players healthy and on the field being called a “Waterboy” is crazy, and I’m already giving him shit for it, but good lord this post is so wildly misleading.
Either way, thought I’d clear the air, that the people with Water Bottles during games actually serve much bigger roles on NFL Teams.
If you’re still offering $35-$40/hr for per diem work for athletic trainers in California when you are also an athletic trainer…you’re part of the problem! 🗣️
If you’re an AD or anyone that has hiring power in secondary schools who say you can’t afford an AT, this bill makes it so that you can’t afford to NOT have an AT, especially in underserved communities. Tax dollars flow to schools with attendance unfortunately.
Cuts to Medicaid make ATs more important than ever. With an already strained healthcare system that is now going to be impacted even more due to more severe illnesses coming in, ATs are in a critical position to position ourselves as even more essential in the healthcare system.
Personally, these cuts are ridiculous to give such a small tax break to the middle (I believe, even myself) and even more to billionaires so millions of people lose healthcare and rural hospitals to close. We never needed less access to healthcare, we’ve always needed more.
Sitting here thinking about how grateful I am for my life and to watch my baby grow with my best friend. Official halfway point today and can’t be more excited to become Dad and Mom alongside my best friend
Honestly, working and getting better in occupational health and safety makes me a better AT and vice versa. Learning about and managing risk is all we do 🤓
Hi, ER Doc here.
Just a friendly reminder if your nose is bleeding, DO NOT TILT YOUR HEAD BACK. This just makes the blood drip down the back of your throat and you will then swallow and/or choke on it. Pinch the soft part of your nose and TILT YOUR HEAD FORWARD. Please tell all your friends about this.
@agillatc@imastaah 😂 hey all you can do is try I guess. Trust me, differing between first aid and medical treatments is very straightforward, ATs can grasp is pretty quickly.
