Went to @NPGLondon for the first time today and adored it. Great exhibition about the wives of Henry VIII and it was fun seeing some familiar Royal Pavilion faces in the permanent collection alongside some of my fave musicians. Could’ve spent all day in there!
Only a few tickets left for this talk by me on artists' palettes - the pigments they carry, how they were made, used, collected and became symbols of art and style.

Great time at the private view for our Rembrandt show at @BrightonMuseums ! 14 modern young people + 1 old master = 15 amazing self-portraits. I was lucky to work with the young people to develop their self-portraits. Can’t wait for everyone to see it when it opens tomorrow!
Almost back home in Brighton after a trip to Bristol - my first ever work trip! Very exciting meeting with Bristol Museums and Liverpool Museums about exciting future projects!! Found some time to do some Brunel-themed sightseeing too.
#OnThisDay 28th November 1896, Magnus Volk’s legendary Brighton & Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway (nicknamed “Daddy-long-legs”) opened. The single car “Pioneer” with its luxuriously appointed interior and had to be driven by a qualified sea captain, for it ran on rails along the rocky foreshore to avoid difficult cliff terrain. But a storm damaged it badly just a week after opening, and it reopened at huge expense the following year. It became hugely popular, much like the connecting @volksrailway. Alas new sea defences needed to be built across the route and an avoiding line was too costly. It was closed in Jan 1901: substantial parts remained intact until 1910 but even today you can still see the route cut through rock and the concrete bases of the electricity poles at low tide. The full story is on @volksvera website https://t.co/G4ucg8byNI
A few job opportunities available at @BrightonMuseums ranging from conservation and collections work to gardening and functions 👀
