Our past has made us what we are today. We can’t change it, but we can learn from it. Our future will be the result of the decisions we make now. So, now, let’s all commit to being the best version of ourselves and renew that commitment every day.
Swiss farmers planted flowers between their crops and watched pest damage drop by over half. The UK is now running the same trial across 15 farms. The reason this works is embarrassingly simple.
A Swiss study on winter wheat found that fields with wildflower strips had 40 to 53% fewer leaf beetle pests than fields without. Crop damage dropped 61%.
The mechanism is simple. Wildflowers feed hoverflies, lacewings, parasitic wasps, ladybugs, and ground beetles. Those insects eat the aphids, beetle larvae, and caterpillars that farmers would otherwise spray for. A few meters of wildflowers hosts an unpaid pest control crew that would jump at the chance to whoop some aphid ass.
In apple orchards where no insecticides had been used for five years, plots with wildflower alleyways had 9.2% damaged fruit. Control plots without flowers had 32.5%.
The UK is now running a five-year trial across 15 farms placing 6-meter flower strips through the middle of fields, not just at the edges, because the beneficial insects can't reach the center of a large field otherwise.
This works the same way in a backyard vegetable garden as it does on a commercial farm. Plant native flowering species near your tomatoes, beans, and squash. The pests still show up, but the predators show up too.

BREAKING: LOL! Hunter Biden hilariously trolls Trump with a fake Nobel Peace Prize nomination — and his reasons have MAGA screeching with rage.
This is an absolute bullseye...
"I am officially nominating Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) for the Nobel Peace Prize," Hunter wrote on X. "No President in History has ended the same war so many times. Our Dear Leader has ended the war with Iran at least 38 times by CNN’s count.
"No President has ever done this before," he added. "And he is nowhere near finished ending it. It’s a record worthy of the Nobel committee’s recognition. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
The joke, of course, is that Trump has repeatedly promised that a lasting peace with Iran is within reach, only for the negotiations to once again break down and the bombing to resume. There's also the added absurdity of nominating Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for ending a pointless war of aggression that he launched on Israel's behalf.
You don't get credit for solving a problem that you yourself created!
The simple truth is that Donald Trump is the most warmongering President in modern American history. He slaughtered countless innocent men, women, and children overseas and accomplished nothing in the process. Awarding him a Nobel Peace Prize would delegitimize the prize for all time.
Republicans on social media are predictably incensed over Hunter's joke, with many MAGA accounts responding to his post with personal insults as well as attacks on his father.
That's how you know he hit the mark.
Trump's obsession with the prize is well documented. He aggressively lobbied for one in vain and hates that Barack Obama won the prize. For a racist like Trump, the idea that a Black man could exceed him in so many tangible ways is unthinkable. He deserves to be trolled relentlessly!

BREAKING: Vibrio vulnificus — a deadly, flesh-eating bacteria with a staggering 20% mortality rate — is now being detected in multiple U.S. waterways.
And here’s the part you’re not supposed to ignore: this comes after the Trump administration dismantled critical water monitoring systems and gutted CDC programs that were tracking this very threat.
When you defund science and silence public health experts, Americans pay the price.
Remember the stretch of Santa Barbara coastline that was poisoned in 1969, killing hundreds of thousands of seabirds?
The agency born from that disaster - the California Coastal Commission - has guarded 1,100 miles of California shoreline for 50 years.
Under federal law, it has the legal right to review and block federal projects along the coast. Offshore drilling. Pipelines. All of it.
Howard Lutnick just called that "environmental extremism."
The Trump administration has now ordered NOAA — the federal ocean agency - to conduct a formal performance review of the Commission. That review can end in decertification.
Here's what decertification means: California loses its legal authority to weigh in on federal coastal projects. The state no longer gets a say.
Federal agencies can approve offshore drilling, pipelines, and industrial projects along the California coast - without California's input, without California's approval.
The coast that burned in 1969 would have no guardian.
And it’s not hypothetical. Sable Offshore - a Houston oil company - is already drilling in the Santa Barbara Channel right now. Trump invoked the Defense Production Act earlier this year to force their pipelines back online over California’s objections.
The state tried to stop it. A court battle is ongoing. The Coastal Commission is one of the last legal tools California has left to fight back. That’s exactly why it’s being targeted.
Since when is preventing another oil disaster considered "environmental extremism"?

BREAKING: GET HIM! Congressman Jamie Raskin DISMANTLES Mike Johnson after he whined that Democrats will investigate Republican corruption if we win the midterms.
The MAGA Speaker walked face-first into this one...
"If we were to lose the midterms, heaven forbid, these Democrats, y'all impeachment's not even the big concern," said Johnson. "They will turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body, and they'll go after the President's family, the Cabinet, his donors and friends, half of you in this room will be targeted. I run the protection program. I’ll take care of you."
Oh, the horror! Imagine if Congress actually exercised its oversight powers to rein in the most lawless President in American history as he loots the treasury, lines his pockets from crypto scams, starts foreign wars on behalf of Israel, and covers up his own involvement in Jeffrey Epstein's massive child sex trafficking ring.
Raskin saw the jaw-dropping Johnson clip and quickly pounced—
"1. Speaker Johnson, you’re obsessing about losing the House but don’t seem to realize it’s because you have no program for the country other than illegal disastrous tariffs, illegal disastrous war and humiliating invertebrate submission to your unraveling cult master," wrote Raskin.
"2. You’re projecting onto us your own comically failed and obsessive investigations into President Biden, the Southern Poverty Law Center, James Comey, George Soros, etc."
"3. We obviously must confront the debilitating corruption and authoritarianism you have enabled, but at the same time we’re going to move America forward on all the public goods you have thwarted, like the health care of the people, increasing the minimum wage and protecting our environment."
"4. I agree that you 'run the protection program' and 'take care' of all MAGA violators!"
That last point is worth paying attention to. Johnson sounds exactly like a mafia don in a low budget gangster flick, which is presumably a habit he picked up from his cult leader Donald. The Republican Party is now indistinguishable from a criminal organization. They violate the Constitution daily while turning a blind eye to Trump's endless parade of lawbreaking.
Johnson's speech has become an accidental campaign ad for Democrats. If you care about upholding the law and restoring our democracy, you have to vote blue.
What do you want Democrats to prioritize when we retake power? Sound off!
Please ❤️ and share if you'll NEVER vote Republican for as long as you live!
Let me tell you what just got reported, because you will not believe it until you see it laid out.
The Trump administration cut a billion-dollar tungsten deal with Kazakhstan. Tungsten is the metal we need for missile warheads, fighter jets, and computer chips. Trump himself got on the phone to close it. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick worked it from the inside, sending letters, leaning on the Kazakh president, lining up as much as $1.6 billion in federal financing.
Within weeks of those negotiations, investors tied to a firm partly owned by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump took a 20% stake in an entity connected to the very same Kazakhstan project their father was negotiating. Around that same time, Cantor Fitzgerald, the firm run by Lutnick’s own sons, raised $210 million for a partner in the deal and pocketed the fees.
The fathers set the policy. The sons cashed in.
Six days after the Trump sons and their partners moved their money, Lutnick signed the final deal.
The reporting found one or both families have financial ties to at least 14 companies working with the government on critical mining deals.
The total federal funding flowing toward those companies tops $8.9 billion.
This is your tax money.
It is supposed to secure our supply chains and protect our troops, not pad the portfolios of the President’s children and the Commerce Secretary’s children.
This is the most corrupt administration in American history. It is not close.
We must keep digging, and keep asking the questions they do not want asked. Republicans in Congress are unwilling to lift a finger. Mike Johnson is running a protection racket.
Either we will end the corruption, or the corruption will be the end of us.

A new MIT study provides fresh evidence in the ongoing debate over whether electric vehicles (EVs) are truly better for the environment than gasoline-powered cars.
Critics often highlight the environmental costs of battery production (mining lithium, nickel, cobalt, etc.) and the carbon intensity of electricity generation. However, researchers at MIT conducted a comprehensive lifecycle analysis comparing gasoline cars, plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) across different U.S. regions, climates, driving patterns, and electricity grids.
Key finding: In most locations, fully electric vehicles produce 40% to 60% fewer greenhouse gas emissions over their lifetime compared to similar gasoline-powered cars.
The biggest driver of these savings is the cleanliness of the local electricity grid. EVs deliver the largest benefits in areas with high renewable or low-carbon power, but even in regions still heavily reliant on fossil fuels, they generally outperform gasoline vehicles. The advantage is expected to grow as power grids continue decarbonizing.
Plug-in hybrids also provide substantial benefits, often achieving 80–90% of a BEV’s emissions reductions in urban areas with regular charging.
