Insanely curious NHS Cardiology Research Nurse (Ex ICU), player of bass, maker of stuff, ex IT director. Ask/Help Others/Always be kind. Lesbian. She/Her/Geek.
"look at your experience here as a mandala, Chapman. Work hard to make something as meaningful & beautiful as you can. And when you're done, pack it in & know it was all temporary." OITNB
Thus is my time in ICU. I must move on & appreciate the beauty of it.
It is SO hard! :(
Huge congratulations to the team at Worthing Hospital @UHSx_Research for randomising your first patient to the POP-I Trial! Absolutely amazing team work! We are all over the moon happy to see this patient coming through! Thanks for your hard work!

Did you know the word ‘junior’ in Junior Doctor doesn’t mean young or unqualified
It’s simply the term for any doctor who is not yet a consultant or experienced GP
That includes this 40 year old who’s been a doctor for over 10 years
Please RT if you think everyone should know
@PadfieldJonah@UHSussex This is SO wrongl! My first role was on the EF. Patient care and dignity was our first priority.
I would suggest contacting PALS at the hospital.
@Medic_Russell What a load of bolx!
Being sensitive to the needs of folks is not ‘woke’ (IMHO), it is simply being caring … as all care workers are I hope. x
@organicbotanic Thanks Sue! For several months I was afraid I’d not be able to move back what with nearly dying in the fire, but these past few weeks I’ve been excited about it and cannot wait! Movers are here and I’ll be in this afternoon 😊x
@Nyrs_Emma First computer I ever used was a remote mainframe using a tty terminal. Accessed using a phone and acoustic coupler running at 300 bits per second. Programming was in BASIC with storage on punched paper tape.
I feel old! Lol
9-Aug-22 ... a fire destroyed my flat & nearly took my life.
Earlier today I collected the keys to my reinstated home ... tears!
Tomorrow movers come to do their thing!
Pix of are unbelievable!
PLEASE check your smoke alarms are working & DON'T charge LiIon batteries unattended!

TRUE!
My A levels got me into medical school … 3 years in I realised it was not my calling. After 27 years with a BA and MSc in IT I needed to feed my heart and now 8 years and a BSc later I am still loving being a nurse!
Not a fallback … nursing is a choice for me.
Nursing is not a fallback career for people who have "messed up" their a-levels.
Nursing is a highly skilled profession for bright, innovative, academically and emotionally intelligent people.
