I think you’re confusing people @TomSwarbrick1 - A fixed interest rate can apply to an interest only mortgage or a repayment mortgage. Correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t switch from a ‘fixed’ rate to an ‘interest only’ mortgage.
@IainDale@LBC@RuthAnderson@jogideon@anguswyatt@AjmalMasroor Surely private enterprises can do business with who they choose for whatever reasons. I wouldn’t supply entertainment or attach my brand’s name to an event whose values were in conflict with mine.
@LBC @_NatashaDevon Universities have become businesses and more worryingly, businesses have become universities @_NatashaDevon. There is more money in educating and teaching songwriting than there is in songwriting! Im not a cynic, just a first -hand realist.

@NWLondonHammer@crystalprince84@MartinSLewis@bankofengland@landc Contact them now. £100K at 6% will cost £500p/m for an interest only mortgage. The repayment part will cost £333.3 on a 25 year deal so the total will be £833.3. Do a quick calculation (if you know how) to see how much fixing now will cost you so you are prepared.
@MartinSLewis@bankofengland Interest rate rises WILL stem inflation. It’s inevitable… but at what cost? Banks WILL profit. Shareholders? Could regulation ensure that excess profits are ring-fenced & then slowly re-injected, perhaps helping to level up? Am I completely naive?
@TomSwarbrick1@LBC If 14% in the 80s is the equivalent to 3% now, have we borrowed too much @TomSwarbrick1 or have the banks lent too much? Where does the responsibility lie? How do we avoid it happening again? Let’s explore solutions.
@MoneySavingExp Lease extension - Advice needed!
1. Rental Property
2. NO plans to sell
2. I WILL need to remortgage £90K in 18 months.
3. 83 years to run
4. Circa £10K inc. ALL costs for 90 year extension via ‘informal’ route.
Extend now, wait, renegotiate terms or serve section 42?
HELP!
@CostaCoffee Your Hitchin branch has no bread. There is bread across the road at @marksandspencer. You’d make a profit if someone popped out and grabbed a couple of loaves. Why is this not encouraged?
@TomSwarbrick1 £40K (approx) on energy over the next 8 years to ween Europe off Russian gas… Households front the first £20K (where affordable of course) see it invested (like a pension) and use the return to help those that need it most. I won’t miss 1% interest. Any legs?
I can’t keep up with social media! I don’t tweet or post on FB/Insta with any consistency. My businesses are all active and my thoughts and opinions relevant… just in case you’re reading this 😂
@TomSwarbrick1@LBC How is this even a discussion @TomSwarbrick1? As we buy Russian oil, we finance the war that is now on European soil and will ultimately deprive us of our freedoms. Higher prices are a small price to pay for the free world!
