Samsung may be planning to give Galaxy Z Fold 9 buyers two wide foldables to choose from next year.
A new rumor claims Samsung is testing two additional variants: a larger Galaxy Z Fold 9 Plus and a more affordable FE model with trimmed-down specifications.
However, the company is reportedly planning to launch only one of them alongside the standard Fold 9.
With the Galaxy Z Fold 8 proving to be a hit, Samsung clearly has reasons to expand its wide foldable lineup. The question is whether it will go bigger with a Plus model or cheaper with an FE version.

The Galaxy S27 may face unusually tough competition when it launches next year.
Apple has delayed the standard iPhone 18 until early 2027, potentially putting it in stores around the same time as Samsung’s new flagships.
If Apple keeps the iPhone 17’s $899 price, the iPhone 18 could cost $100 less than the base Galaxy S27, assuming Samsung maintains its current pricing.
The iPhone 18 may also arrive alongside the iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air. That would leave Samsung competing with three new iPhones for attention, carrier-store visibility, and promotions, particularly in the US.
Neither company has confirmed its timing or prices, and rising memory costs could change the equation.
But if these launches overlap, a newer and cheaper iPhone could seriously disrupt the Galaxy S27’s usual launch window.

Friendly reminder: Samsung provided the display for the #iPhoneDuo, but not the hinge that's causing the issues. That was designed by the brand whose logo is on the device. #Apple
Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds On introduce a clever twist: there’s no dedicated left or right earbud. You can pop either bud into either ear, and the earbuds automatically detect which side they’re in and adjust the audio channels accordingly.
The feature promises a more convenient, hassle-free listening experience, setting the Buds On apart from Samsung’s previous earbuds. The big question is how reliably it works in everyday use.
The Galaxy Buds On are now available in South Korea for KRW 299,000 (about $225), with international availability yet to be announced.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has earned another big vote of confidence in the US.
Consumer Reports has awarded Samsung's latest foldable its “CR Recommended” designation, putting it alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The organization evaluates devices across several categories, including reliability, camera quality, battery life, and charging, before making its recommendations.
The recognition comes as @Samsung continues to see strong demand for its foldables. Combined Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra purchases are tracking 30% ahead of previous Fold generations, making this year's lineup one of Samsung's most successful yet.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, appears to have a hinge-related manufacturing problem.
Apple has acknowledged the reports and is investigating, saying the issue affects a very small number of devices. But questions remain about how defective units made it through quality control.
Samsung makes the foldable displays, but Foxconn does the iPhone Duo's final assembly.
⚠️ A report from China alleges that Apple lowered Foxconn’s inspection standards to speed up production and meet broader launch targets.
If true, that decision may have allowed faulty devices to reach customers. The claims remain unconfirmed, and Apple hasn’t disclosed the root cause.
