The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo continues to intensify its crime-fighting operations through #OperationShanela II, with 2 571 suspects arrested, 12 firearms and 229 rounds of ammunition confiscated, and 10 stolen or robbed vehicles recovered across the province during the period 14 to 20 September 2026.

The weeklong operations, conducted across all five districts, targeted serious and violent crimes, illegal firearms, drug-related offences, unlawful liquor activities, undocumented persons and other criminal activities threatening the safety and security of communities.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, commended police members for their continued commitment to crime prevention and law enforcement across the province.

“We will continue to strengthen our presence in communities and pursue those who threaten the safety of our people.”

UPDATE | The SAPS has confirmed the arrest of a 59-year-old Lt-Gen.

Not only is he charged with rape, but also suspected of grooming a 16-year-old girl.

The arrest was carried out by the CRTT.

The general is due in court tomorrow.
