Photographer Mendel Grossman risked his life by taking thousands of illegal photos, depicting life and death in the Lodz ghetto. When the ghetto was liquidated in August 1944, he hid 10,000 photo negatives that were later retrieved by his sister.

In July 1942, Esther Frenkel was arrested, along with her 2-year-old son, Richard.

Esther’s shirt remained in her Paris flat. It is pictured below, along with a photo of her wearing it.

Esther & Richard were deported separately to #Auschwitz & murdered.
