My husband watched me cry for 47 minutes last night and didn’t hug me once.

Me: “So you’re really just gonna sit there?”

Husband: “Yeah.”

Me: “While I’m crying?”

Husband: “Yeah.”

Me: “Wow.”

Husband: “Are you ready to answer my question?”

Me: “How can you even care about that right now?”

Husband: “Because that’s why we’re having this conversation.”

Me: “You see your wife crying and all you care about is being right?”

Husband: “I didn’t say that.”

Me: “You don’t gotta say it.”

I started crying even harder.

He still didn’t move.

Me: “You used to comfort me.”

Husband: “I did.”

Me: “So what changed?”

Husband: “I noticed something.”

Me: “What?”

Husband: “Every time I bring up something you did, you cry.”

Me: “Because you hurt my feelings.”

Husband: “Last month I asked why you told your sister something private about our marriage.”

Me: “And?”

Husband: “You cried. We spent an hour talking about my tone. Never discussed what you told her.”

I went quiet.

Husband: “Before that, I asked why you spent $2,800 from our savings without telling me.”

Me: “You yelled.”

Husband: “I didn’t yell.”

Me: “You raised your voice.”

Husband: “And somehow we spent that whole night discussing my voice instead of the $2,800.”

Me: “Okay, but you made me feel attacked.”

Husband: “Then there was your ex.”

Me: “Oh my God.”

Husband: “I asked why you were texting him at midnight.”

Me: “It wasn’t like that.”

Husband: “You cried before answering.”

Me: “Because you accused me of cheating.”

Husband: “No. I asked why you were texting him.”

Me: “Same thing.”

Husband: “No, it ain’t.”

That’s when he said something that really got me.

Husband: “I finally realized your tears end every conversation you don’t wanna have.”

Me: “So now I’m manipulating you?”

Husband: “I didn’t say that.”

Me: “That’s literally what you’re implying.”

I started crying again.

He looked at me for a few seconds.

Husband: “See?”

Me: “See WHAT?”

Husband: “We were supposed to be talking about you lying to me yesterday. Now we’re talking about whether I’m a bad husband because you’re crying.”

I ain’t even know what to say.

Husband: “You’re allowed to cry. But we’re finishing the conversation after you’re done.” ................
