@0xJrd@NotSlotaClue@SeanDOlfc Florian Wirtz being anonymous against Man City is Szobzslais fault apparently… you know, the fella who was sat in the stands injured 😂 Not to mention Mac Allister actually played well in the game and passed through the lines regularly.
I don’t understand how this penny hasn’t dropped yet. For the last 5 years elite, elite managers have been moving players around the pitch away from their ‘proper position’ and getting results. But amateurs on twitter think they know best because it’s not what they’d do. Crazy.
It’s not a different conversation entirely.. the two are interlinked. A pro footballer isn’t good enough/ the right fit for one position but is perfect for another so plays there cuz you want him on the pitch. It doesn’t matter what his Wikipedia says his ‘real position’ is
Like when Klopp moaned about 12:30 kick offs, the new trendy fan moan is players leaving for free when they’re finished. So basically, if you have 2 years left you’re either forced with a gun to ur head to sign a new contract or we sell you. Doesn’t matter to who. We just do.
Retrospective waffle unfortunately. Which of these players should have left ‘a year or two’ before they did…and to who and for how much? The shittest two players there are origi and keita. They were injury prone shite at the end. No one’s paying for them.
Those leaving for nothing/a pittance include:
Gini (2021)
Origi (2022)
Keita (2023)
Bobby (2023)
Milner (2023)
The Ox (2023)
Matip (2024 - retired)
Thiago (2024 - retired)
Trent (2025)
Robbo (2026)
Salah (2026)
Konate (2026)
That group brought in a combined transfer fee of £8m.
You could argue that the job of the DOF is to get creative and find cheaper/riskier solutions and it is… but we basically did that with Chiesa and Frimpong and that’s 45 million wasted on shite we can’t shift. Doing nothing can sometimes be better than doing something wrong
I think we may just need to accept moving forward that when most players r now costing 80-120 million a transfer budget that once would have got 4 players will now only get 2. So sacrifices will be made and solutions need to be found in different ways
Torn really cuz comparatively, on paper, we have a good squad. But it’s not played on paper and we have a left back n two cms who haven’t had a good game in a year and a midget rb. Was probably 2/3 players away from pissing it aswell if it clicked. Shame but I’ll get behind them
Add Barcola, Bradley, Nyoni n Ekitike it’s a great squad… for the 27/28 season. Those young players will have a season of experience n growing pains out the way n we’ll be ready to go. Might not like next season being an outside chance at a league but thats what theyre going for
Arsenal have finished above us 3 of the last 4 seasons… but do you think they feel daft that filling holes and potential problems in their squad with signings isn’t smart? Wonder if they get jealous of how smart we are by just using 19 year old kids instead cause we’re smart
🚨🔴⚪️ BREAKING: Arsenal agree deal to sign Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, here we go!
Fee agreed at £50m plus add-ons and long term deal in place with English defender.
Konsa will undergo his medical in next 48h then signing in at #AFC — follows @TheAthleticFC.
@Cpt_ConHead@boonysixx They did try and give Konate a contract you know 😂 they’d have had 4. We’ll have to agree to disagree on asking Virgil to play 50 90 minute games next season off the back of last season and a World Cup being a good idea
@Cpt_ConHead@boonysixx They absolutely 100 percent should be singing a very good high level cb. They all would play a lot of games. No one’s path is being blocked. Arsenal last season proved it. We’ll try and be ‘clever’ again. It’s what we do, I’m fine with it. But we can’t act surprised it goes shit
@Cpt_ConHead@boonysixx Having 4 senior cb options isn’t planing for the worst case scenario. It’s just the bare minimum planning. City made that mistake of having 3 in 19/20 it cost them. We then made the same mistake the following season. Joe Gomez doesn’t count anymore.
@Cpt_ConHead@boonysixx I’m quite relaxed tbh because I’ve seen us win everything live so if we don’t compete I’m not really arsed but let’s not pretend we have some fantastic squad. The same got said last season about the attack ‘it’ll be fine just stick player x there if needed’.. it wasn’t fine
@Cpt_ConHead@boonysixx Ye I see what you’re saying.. a 35 year old VVD, a 19 year old who’s missed a full year of football with an acl and never played a PL game, Jeremy Jaquet and Gravenberch if we need him are more than enough cbs to be equipped to play 60 games and compete this season, deffo
The only difference between Gakpo from the day he signed to now is that he has a skin fade. He hasn’t improved on a single attribute in 3 n a half seasons. He’s a better than average prem player n good squad player when there’s much better players in the attack to carry the team
