Sustainable & resilient communities. Researching flood resilience in Yorkshire. Lived & worked in Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Vanuatu in previous life!
Yes would be great if people working on Nature Based Solutions in England can complete this survey https://t.co/uJnjRCHmB0 to identify challenges & policy barriers. Please contact me with questions on the survey or the project
If you work with Nature Based Solutions (NBS) please help us by taking part in this survey so that your work can be even more widespread.
It's part of a project funded by @ResEngland
to understand challenges which could be improved by policy support https://t.co/VWMwp4WZ8a
@englandsfavour1@floodmary I just said the same thing Paul - a big issue. Plus, not sure if you saw a new article from the survey: โWhat influences how well householders living in previously flooded communities feel they are protected or could recover from future flooding?: https://t.co/2hw3Lcx92D
๐งตDr Twiddy (@HullYorkMed) led the stats analysis after https://t.co/aiuFh6scL2 where we got really effective engagement from people who wanted to describe their experiences after the 2007 and 2013 floods.
๐งตPublished a stats paper with Dr Maureen Twiddy - @HullYorkMed identifying that women in Hull felt more concerned and less protected from flooding than men in @EEIatHull 2018 survey with @LivingWithH2O https://t.co/rogJNJ2ZBt - important finding for flood resilience programmes
๐งตThis is the second paper we worked on: Twiddy M, Trump B, Ramsden S (2022) Understanding the long-term impact of flooding on the wellbeing of residents: A mixed methods study. PLoS ONE 17(9): https://t.co/rogJNJ2rLV โ looked at both the mental and physical health consequences
A super place for our workshop today at Meanwood Valley Farm in Leeds.
Weโre exploring whether it could be a demonstrator site for sustainable urban developments as part of the West Yorkshire Flood Innovation Programme #WYFLIP
It would be great to get wide engagement in this online survey for people involved in developing Blue Green Infrastructure in Yorkshire (UK), so @YorkshireiCASP can develop a training programme to address needs.

Let me know if any questions!
1/2 As part of West Yorkshire Flood Innovation Programme, we're carrying out a survey to address a critical capacity & skills gap risk to delivery of flood reduction & resilience across Yorkshire.
If you work in flood risk management please help us

2/2 We've over 60 delegates coming to our 2nd West Yorkshire Flood Innovation Programme's AGM. It will be opened by our ambassadors Cllr Katie Kimber @Calderdale & Helen Hayden Leeds City Council.
Looking forward to learning about LoRaWAN & other innovative projects.
I am really looking forward to this event...... definitely interesting for stakeholders in working on/ impacted by surface water flooding @YorkshireiCASP@LivingWithH2O@ConnectedbyH20
@EnvAgencyYNE Is #Sheffield in the region as well? Because it is not shown on the map. (I know this is a couple of days out of date, but there is concern Sheffield gets missed on EA warnings).
Update from me - I have moved across to @YorkshireiCASP after many happy years in Hull. Hull is a fantastic place and I was very lucky to work with great people and organisations doing important work across the city. Will miss the place.
@englandsfavour1@RadioHumberside Crazy that this greenspace is under threat, such an important and beautiful greenspace in Hull. Hope you guys win the award!
@Kate_Bradbury I have got loads of bees around my endless ivy growing in dark places and holy walls! Plus near the bird bathh and in poppies and yellow rattle. But definitely less than previous years.
Was really good to bring @grassroofco back to Hull, a city John has strong links with, to discuss #biodoversity#SuDS & #GreenRooves with great orgs from Hull, Teesside and South Yorkshire. Inspiring, challenging and informative. Thanks
@EEIatHull & @floodinnovation

A few photographs from today's free workshop with John Little of @grassroofco, who's helping businesses and charities to understand how they can make their premises more resilient to the effects of climate change.

I've just signed the petition calling on the government to support renewable energy by lifting the ban on new onshore wind farms in England. Sign the petition too: https://t.co/gPk0h3ujPb
