This scene in Jean-Pierre Melville's "Army of Shadows" (1969) where Lino Ventura runs in the street after escaping from the Gestapo headquarters was a set up from Jean Pierre Melville, who ordered the car driver - with the camera aboard - to speed up so that Lino Ventura is out of breath before entering the barber's shop. Melville used the same trick during the shooting of 'Le Deuxième Souffle' (1966). Lino Ventura neither forgot nor forgave Melville for it.
