35 years ago, this was the standard line from ELCA types. "The LCMS is a bunch of rigid fundamentalists, basically a sect. They don't matter."

Today, the LCMS has more people in its pews on a given Sunday than the ELCA, despite our demographic decline. Throughout the world, the more that young Lutheran church bodies embrace their confessional identity, the more they grow. The supposedly "mainstream" Lutherans have zero cultural footprint. Their church bodies are rapidly dying. No online presence, no impact anywhere. The only time they ever make the news is when one of their "churches" becomes the first to "ordain" an openly polypanmorphicsexual, only to be outwoked a week later by one of three or four other progressive denominations. Within a day, nobody remembers which was which and nobody cares.

Virtually everyone who encounters Lutheranism online is encountering "fundamentalist" "rigid" Confessional Lutherans. The vast majority of new Lutherans in the world are confessionals while "Mainstream" Lutheranism is a walking corpse still muttering the same mid 90s self-affirmation cliches in the mirror.

What he does not deserve, on 9/11 of all days, is to be Jesus juked by men who never put themselves on the line in the way he did. Dunking on him for cheap Twitter claps on this of all days is despicable.

When you put yourself in the “shoes of an immigrant in chains“ remember to spare a minute to put yourself in the shoes of parents who have had their daughters raped by illegal immigrants. Children whose parents were killed by illegal immigrant reckless drivers. Siblings of teenagers who overdosed on drugs brought here by illegal immigrant drug dealers. Cities and states who have had their public assistance programs intended for citizens completely exploited and overtaken by immigrant fraud.

These are people deserving of empathy too. And David almost never mentions them.
