Just like tiktokkers to fast food franchises, Dublin Pintdrinkers have been flocking to Bill Ahearnes on Aston Quay in their droves in the last week.
This is all on account of them now doing Guinness at room temperature.
Poured from Guinness' debutante 1960s counter box...(1/3)
Worth noting that FOURTEEN (of 26) players on Qatar’s team cared so much for the love of the sport that they left nations like Brazil, Portugal, Algeria, & Belgium, all within the last 6 years to accept huge amount of cash, receive fast-tracked Qatari citizenship, all to play for a notably oppressive & discriminatory nation.
They deserve our scorn.
@DickDelingpole Higher cost of production due to de-alcoholisation, additional ingredients, pasteurising, smaller production etc.
Scarcity is also an issue particularly with Guinness 0.0. In LDN we were limited in what we could order and it’s unavailable in Canada (on-trade) currently.
@dublin_damo It’s a double edged sword, I think the setup we have at home with regard to Diageo, Heineken etc is a significant reason the UK Brewpubs won’t expand to Ireland. UK setup is incredibly confusing and the brewery’s have a lot of control. Thankfully I’m independent and free of tie.
@_Old_Trafford_ @dublin_damo In defence to ‘most’ of them, a majority of their pubs are unique and have a soul to them unlike the English counterparts which are incredibly homogenous and only unique to their respective owner/chain. The only chain that has some character in the UK is Youngs at a push imo.
Are the British government charging people for displaying terrorist flegs all of a sudden?
Cos all my life I've seen these flying and no one ever charged
@dublin_damo Only one outside of town that I know/known of was The Fishermans/Waterside in Howth. Unfortunately closed for the past few years due to its sale. Used to work there in the day, an interesting place to say the least.
@dublin_damo 100% agree, have a fair bit of disdain for the place. Conflicted tho, Monday afternoon in the city it’s the only place tourists are guaranteed music, fairly busy and the pints are grand obviously mad on the pocket but I used to send them down from Kehoes for a pint or two!
@joshbythesea Direct result of a lack of training and ‘care’ for good service amongst both publicans and their teams. Equally as frustrating for the decent bartenders out there when people queue and act like a deer in headlights when you serve more than 1 person at a time…
€1.8m is been invested by around a dozen prominent Dublin and Cork publicans in a new brewery that will launch its first products today https://t.co/zeF27lzRFo
If your work is planning a Xmas party, please ask that it’s held in an independent venue.
It could be a lifeline to an independent restaurant, pub or bar.
We’re loosing far too many on a daily basis….please do your bit.
