@wanderingarou17@josephkazUK We’ve all had ‘traditional architecture bad’ drummed into us and we’ve all learned these thin, easily countered, 1960s arguments defending the clearly ridiculous consensus that it’s only practical to build ugly, barely functional, short life span infrastructure and public spaces
@Simon_Nixon Not sure. @mehdirhasan, who I’d previously always liked, showed really ugly identity politics around the Iran war. Seems tribe is more important than humanitarianism. I hope Zeteo won’t pump even more divisive identity politics and polarisation into our national discourse
A historic Victorian icon, reimagined for modern London.
The £1.3 billion transformation of Olympia isn’t just one of the most spectacular regeneration schemes London has ever seen, it’s also a symbol of our city’s creativity, imagination and unstoppable ambition.
@Disc_light@Keir_Starmer@EmmanuelMacron@_FriedrichMerz I’m not disagreeing with you on getting the economy back to being sustainable. Ukraine is different though. Imagine we stopped supporting them, they collapsed, Russia attacked say the Baltics. Suddenly we’d need to spend 10x as much urgently.
Trinity Square, SE1.
Fun fact: the statue (King Alfred) is made out of a Roman statue of Minerva, topped in Coade stone. It strikes me that there is a pretty good cross-section of London history in these photos.
@Disc_light@Keir_Starmer@EmmanuelMacron@_FriedrichMerz I love your work David but pay a pound today to save a hundred pounds in the future
Also those guys are heroes – they’re fighting for their survival. We should stick by them like we stuck by Poland and Europe in WW2
🚨There’s currently 2x Estonian owned Ships from Hansa Shipping at anchor in the Shannon Estuary, waiting for a free berth on Aughinish pier where they will on-load Alumina before sailing for Russia
Between them, enough Alumina to smelt approx 7500 tons of Aluminium #Alumina21
Doesn’t matter if you have a nice green cardigan and a friendly voice. This man is morally bankrupt and is looking the other way as families are blown apart in playgrounds with Irish support. Thank god we on this side of the Irish Sea have a better sense of European solidarity
I asked a local councillor if the russian refinery here in Ireland should be sanctioned.
He said yes, if it was supplying Israel.
But Russia? No.
This is Ireland’s sanctions hypocrisy in 90 seconds.

Every sign at this refinery in Ireland is in russian. The official website is a .RU domain.
There’s no reason to hide it because local politicians are openly doing it for them.
