Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to tour Coronado at Stone Oak, a five-star skilled nursing facility operated by Cantex in San Antonio. I enjoyed learning more about the exceptional care they provide to residents and the important role they play in our community. My statement on the Dignity Act

I am slow to call people liars because most of the time they are simply mistaken and ignorant about the facts. That might apply to Peter Harris. So Peter, here are some facts: Representative Bhojani is a Muslim who follows the Ismaili sect. That sect constitutes approximately 2% of all Muslims. Rather than following standard Muslim doctrine, Ismailis follow their own Imam named Aga Khan IV. Unlike all other Muslims, Ismailis believe this Imam is divinely appointed to reinterpret their doctrine. Perhaps he is the one telling Representative Bhojani that Sharia Law is only about family, faith and taking care of your neighbor.
Unfortunately, the remaining 98% of Muslims have a totally different view. For centuries, al-Azhar University in Cairo has been the seat of Sunni learning and jurisprudence. To them, Sharia is based on their prophet’s “revelations” in the Quran and in his sayings and practices (the Sunnah) as reported in the hadiths. Al-Azhar University has certified that the book Reliance of the Traveller faithfully reflects recognizes the Sunni understanding of Sharia law. (Sunnis represent approximately 80% of all Muslims.) That book is available from Amazon – you should read it. You will see that Sharia law as recognized by the vast majority of Muslims is nothing like the beautiful picture painted by Representative Bhojani. #TexasWakeUp @RAIRFoundation #RAIRFoundation
