25 years ago, I predicted in @TheSpectator that making a fetish of the Holocaust for non-Jews would produce antisemitism 2.0.
I wish I was wrong.

[1/7] 🧵Debunking Oreskes & Conway’s “Merchants of Doubt” conspiracy theory
In 2010, the science historian, Prof. Naomi Oreskes, co-authored a book with Erik Conway in which they claimed that 4 prominent scientists (Bob Jastrow, Bill Nierenberg, Fred Seitz & Fred Singer) had singlehandedly “obscured the truth on […] global warming”.
Oreskes & Conway insisted that when Dr. James Hansen claimed in 1988 that human-caused global warming was an urgent crisis, this led to a rapid worldwide scientific & political consensus. And that those 4 scientists were the only ones resisting this consensus.
But, Oreskes & Conway insisted that these 4 sceptical physicists were so influential that their objections were sufficient to stop the world implementing major “climate action”.
Funny how you defend yourself against the charge of antisemitism by throwing out antisemitic tropes about “loyalty” to a foreign country. And the idea that you, of all people, would question anyone’s loyalty to America when you facilitated the most damaging leak of classified information is laughable. You belong in jail.
I've had my differences with @havivrettiggur but he gets a cheer for tirelessly hammering the point that the threats of isolation, boycott, pariah status, etc -- these are all ofc real and formidable but pale in comparison to the threat of physical extermination
you should subscribe to his podcast @AskHaviv
yes, he's a leftist -- but one of the good ones
I have plenty of issues with Trump, but he’s not the issue here. The real issue is the entitlement of Somalia’s political elite and the abuse of diplomatic privileges. At some point we need to stop blaming everyone else and start holding the men running Somalia accountable.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve made this point, but please take this as a WARNING, and not merely an observation: Anti-social behavior—think about the guy blasting music from a speaker, talking loudly on speaker-phone, smoking inside the subway car, etc.—in public spaces is often engaged in ***_as a dare_***. The whole point is to provoke anger and annoyance in those around him, which serves two purposes, depending on the response he’s hoping for:
(1) If everyone bites their tongues, the antisocial asshole gets to tell himself he’s such a badass no one would dare speak up; or
(2) If someone confronts him, he finds his excuse to scratch a violent itch.
Understand that saying something to these people will often come with a real risk of violent confrontation.
This single paragraph from an emergency docket opinion issued one week ago (Allen v. Milligan) is likely to be the most important paragraph the Court has written since Dobbs. The OLC relies on it in its new opinion declaring EEOC's Title VII disparate impact guidelines unconstitutional. But its significance is even deeper. As others have pointed out, this is the first time a majority opinion officially declares that we the people of the United States have a colorblind constitution. As Justice Harlan explained long ago, and as the people understood when they ratified the Fourteenth Amendment.
.@mbachelet Madam Bachelet, you're going to get vetoed not because you “believe in human rights” but because we exposed that under your watch, the UN rights office shielded Beijing as they crushed the Uyghurs, Putin as he poisoned dissidents, and the Ayatollah as he killed women.
They were never opposed to dual loyalties.
They were never opposed to foreign money.
They were never opposed to human rights abuses.
They had a policy disagreement but couldn't win the argument, so they tried changing the subject to "AIPAC money."
Ardogan the descendant of Othoman Turks that ethnic cleansed our Aramaic Christian people with barbaric genocide is better shut up and apologize for their evil. Israel at least recognized our Aramaic national identity and more to come soon..
The Israel lobby and loyalty, circa 1981, in view of Seymour Martin Lipset, famed political scientist and sociologist. Fresh as day he wrote it. On him: https://t.co/DFJmV8GOE2
Britain must look again at coal.
Coal is not the first choice, but returning to coal should be viewed as the price Britain may have to pay for leaving itself dangerously short of firm power.
So I didn't realize this -- so mail ballots can be accepted after election day WITHOUT A POSTMARK?!
Voters can "self-date." Can anyone defend that as anything other than an open invitation to corruption?
A man who has spent about two decades defaming Israel for the world’s largest, or formerly largest, media outlet pretends that public opinion is independent of the influence of him and his cronies.
