Joburg Water has confirmed that the additional repair to the leaking pipe joint has now been completed.

The pipeline will now be repressurised and monitored to ensure that the repaired joints and couplings hold under pressure.

Joburg Water will proceed with the gradual restoration of the reservoirs in the following sequence:

Olivedale Reservoir → Honeydew Reservoir → Boschkop Reservoir → Randpark Ridge Reservoir

As the Randpark Ridge Reservoir is supplied from Boschkop, it will be the last reservoir to recover. Residents supplied from Randpark Ridge Reservoir should therefore expect their water supply to take longer to return.

Some fire hydrants may also be opened in surrounding areas to help release trapped air and flush grit or debris from the network during restoration.

Water will return progressively as the system stabilises and reservoir levels recover.
