I welcomed Prime Minister-Designate of the federal government @AliFalihAlzaidy and a delegation from the Coordination Framework to Erbil. We discussed ongoing efforts to form the new federal cabinet.

I reaffirmed our support to form a new government and to resolve the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government on the basis of the Constitution, with full respect for the rights of the people of Kurdistan, and the federal status of the Kurdistan Region.

I also stressed that a new opportunity has emerged to address these issues fundamentally, ensure the fair treatment of the Kurdistan Region, and advance Iraq’s political process on the basis of partnership, balance, and consensus.

Prime Minister-Designate Al-Zaidi expressed his appreciation for our support and emphasized that a stronger Kurdistan Region contributes to a stronger federal government, and reaffirmed his commitment to the fair treatment of the people of Kurdistan.

كما أصبح حزب الله عبئًا على لبنان، وحركة حماس ورمًا خبيثًا بالنسبة لإسرائيل، وكما تحوّل الحوثيون إلى مصدر قلق وتهديد للسعودية، فإن الحشد الشعبي والمليشيات المرتبطة بإيران في العراق أصبحت اليوم خطرًا جديدًا على كردستان.

فوجود هذه القوى لن يسمح لكردستان أن تنعم بالاستقرار والراحة.

إن إصرار بعض أطراف الإطار التنسيقي على المضي في انتخاب رئيس الجمهورية، مقابل استمرار البعض في عدم حسم مرشح رئاسة مجلس الوزراء، يُعدّ أمراً غير مقبول. ونؤكد بشكل قاطع عدم المضي بأي استحقاق دستوري قبل حسم هذا الملف بالتزامن، بما يكفل حضور ومشاركة جميع الأطراف في الجلسة المقبلة لمجلس النواب.

ندينُ بأشد العبارات الهجوم والاعتداء السافر الذي استهدف القنصلية العامة لدولة الكويت في مدينة البصرة. إنّ هذا العمل التخريبي يمثل انتهاكاً صارخاً للقانون الدولي والمواثيق الدبلوماسية التي تفرض حماية حرمة البعثات وصون أمنها.

ندعو الحكومة الاتحادية إلى محاسبة المتورطين، واتخاذ إجراءات جدية وفعلية لوضع حد نهائي للاعتداءات التي تطال البعثات الدبلوماسية في العراق وإقليم كوردستان.

I spoke by phone with @DefensieMin Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius on security developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

We both condemned the attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces, and expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region.

We also underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and I expressed my appreciation for the longstanding Kurdistan-Netherlands cooperation in security and economic development.
