National Dialogue Introduces the Tawasol Network: Advancing Local Crisis Response under WPS
The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), in partnership with UN Women, convened a national dialogue on April 7, 2026, at the Landmark Amman Hotel, marking 25 years of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and providing a platform to reflect on local approaches to crisis response and social cohesion in Jordan.
The dialogue brought together representatives of women- and youth-led civil society organizations from southern and selected central governorates, alongside government institutions, UN agencies, international organizations, and research actors. Discussions focused on connecting local experiences with national frameworks, while strengthening coordination and preparedness in inclusive and community-responsive ways. Women’s Day in a Burning Region No more slogans. Just one demand: stop destroying our world.
A Statement by ARDD on Women’s International Day 2026

Each year, Women’s International Day arrives with speeches, conferences, and renewed commitments to gender equality, justice, and the well-being of women. Yet for millions of women and girls in our region, this day has become a painful moment of confrontation with a reality that grows harsher year after year.

Since the last Women’s International Day, tens of thousands of women and girls have lost their lives, with over 28,000 of them in Gaza alone. At the same time, more than 20 million people across the Arab world remain displaced, mostly women and children. Behind these numbers are stories of shattered families, interrupted education, and futures that have been violently cut short.

Therefore, on this Women’s International Day, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) calls on the international community to move beyond merely renewing rhetorical commitments to women’s empowerment. Before any meaningful discussion of women’s rights can take place, the protection of human life itself must come first.

Women’s rights cannot flourish in the midst of war. Equality cannot be realized in a world that tolerates impunity. And human dignity cannot endure while entire societies are being destroyed.

Why an Option to Retire at 55 May Be Reasonable for Some Women Toward a Fair Approach Based on the Life Course and Economic Dignity In public debates on pension systems in the Arab region, the issue is often framed primarily in terms of financial sustainability: fund deficits, rising life expectancy, and growing pressure on public expenditure. Yet, important as this perspective may be, it often overlooks a deeper question linked to social justice between women and men: do current pension designs truly reflect the realities of women’s lives, and their professional and social trajectories? Proposing the option for women to retire at age 55 should not be understood as a call for women to withdraw from the labour market.
