@suminanaokun And I agree with you, when I was watching the episode I could see where Jax’s character was going until the last 20 minutes speeds past the fact that he abstracts, and the rest of the cast besides Pomni seems impacted by it. What happens to Jax has no weight.
@suminanaokun Which COULDVE been a very interesting point that shows Jax is a liar but it just proves that Ragatha’s overprotectiveness over Pomni wasn’t unwarranted. The show needed more explaining, all the major plot points were unbaked or rushed through.
@suminanaokun Me when I refuse to accept that Jax’s character in the episode was handled horribly and is a contradiction to what he himself had said. “Are you going to blame me like everyone else did too?” And turns out that he was to blame.
@Shineofhobi … never said that? I think the translation is messing with the text. I’m saying that the show handled Jax’s abstraction while he’s with Pomni was distasteful. It’s not an easy way out of life, it’s an easy way out of consequences that’s been building up.
@Macheesecheese I felt like the show was coddling Jax and trying to show he is broken (and he is) and deserves pity. And I did, at first until it took a turn that felt like a weird direction to go with when explaining why this character is acting like this. Especially with prior context
Crazy how you can feel genuine sympathy for a domestic abuser responsible for killing two people and (presumably) eating one of them when the plot doesn't baby him and confronts him for his bullshit excuses and behavior right in the face.
And then there is Jax. #TADC#tadcep9ㅤ
@thelovelyfall He’s an almost impossible character to defend without seeming like I’m excusing all of his sins. And this is as someone who is 100% supportive of transfem Jax and his character overall since the pilot came out. I apologize if I came off as transphobic.
@thelovelyfall I’m saying my opinion as how Jax’s tragic end is treated. I don’t believe suicide is an easy way out and I WISH we had focused more on Jax’s gender dysphoria; but it’s overshadowed by his concerning mistakes and his unwillingness to better himself with newfound support.
Despite my criticism, I still believe that Jax is amazingly written. I just disagree with the direction of his character. Gooseworx is an amazing writer and no amount of discourse or critiques will ever make me think opposite
@Smiley_Gate that is the beauty of Jax. I still wish he took accountability for his actions and had a happy ending, even if I despise the shit out of him
kinda insane how quickly i went from "Jax's character is example of someone coping for their insecurities" to "jesus christ this guy is an actual asshole who enjoys tormenting his roommates" in the span of 2 months

I think this is where I cried harder. Imagine being firmly convinced for all that time that you weren't good enough for someone, thinking that they didn't like you at all. All those intrusive thoughts, erased by a hug and a sentence. It must have been so liberating for her.
That's what I don't get. Why have Ragatha be so weary about Jax, be cautious around him, and also frame her as overprotective when she was right all along? I assumed she was assuming Jax's situation when it came to Ribbit and Kaufmo but guess not
What's interesting is that if TADC had 1-2 more episodes on fleshing more shit out (specifically Ragatha, Pomni, and Jax), I would've enjoyed it 10x more as it is. Goose is still an amazing writer in my book, just the finale seemed unbaked and needed more context.
