600 reasons to be proud ๐
In 2025, more than 600 people across Northern Ireland chose to show up for others by giving their time to Samaritans, so that no one in our communities has to face their hardest moments alone.
If youโre struggling call us on 116 123.
Meet Ellen, a volunteer at our Newry and Dundalk branch since 2016.
โBeing a volunteer gives me a sense of fulfilment. It is a privilege when a caller feels able to connect with me and share their thoughts and feelings.
Ellen, thank you for being there for others. ๐
This Volunteers' Week, our Regional Director Marcella Taylor has a message for our incredible volunteers across Northern Ireland.
"Thank you to all the wonderful Samaritans volunteers who are there round the clock making sure people have someone to turn to."

It's Volunteers' Week ๐
Across our branches in Ballymena, Bangor, Belfast, Coleraine, Craigavon, Derry, Newry and Omagh, volunteers show up, day and night, to be there for anyone who needs to talk.
To every single one of them. THANK YOU. ๐
Meet Nicola, a volunteer at our Bangor and North Down branch.
"At the end of a call when a caller says they feel brighter and thank me for listening - I look forward to my next shift."

Talking openly about suicide to a loved one, colleague, professional or a Samaritan can help you work through your thoughts and help you find a way to cope.
Together we can ensure that everyone can 'Believe in Tomorrow'๐
Unemployment, poverty, debt, and low education levels are all linked to a higher risk of suicide. We must do more to tackle these issues and support those most vulnerable. ๐ #SuicidePrevention#EndTheStigma
