When you sign Martinez (33) Henderson (36) Welbeck (35) Charravia (28) and Lacroix (26) the project dies and rightly so. Xabi Alonso being a ‘manager’ who is respected & valued is not part of the old model and rightly so. This 180 switch is what a large part of the Chelsea fanbase was crying out for years ago. We are now operating & functioning like a Football club who respects the game and its intangibles. Wanting the owners out after 4 years of stubbornness and neglect was justified, ‘if you don’t hear you must feel’ and we did finishing 10TH.

It's not just about signing Rodgers for £116M, it's about the kind of business that was done there. If you do the maths with the business we have done with Villa, they only have got around £7M left. At the same time we have moved deadwoods as leverage and also for profit
