@fasc1nate Hyperion isn't nearly as impressive on its own in the forest it's located in. It's off-limits to visitors, and looks much less impressive from the ground, given the forest also has incredibly tall trees competing with Hyperion's 380 feet, such as Helios at 377, and Icarus at 371.

@fasc1nate This photo is not of Hyperion, but of an unnamed old-growth redwood tree in a new-growth redwood forest. This photo was taken by Michael Nichols for Nat Geo in Rockefeller Forest, the world’s largest continuous old-growth redwood forest. Impressive on its own, but not Hyperion.
