I have a friend with no full fingers outside one thumb. He didn't lose them to frostbite or a traumatic accident, he lost them in five separate accidents through his life. His fingers range in length to an inch long on his right hand including his thumb which he blew off with fireworks three years ago to around 2 inches give or take a 1/4 inch on his left. He had previously cut half his finger off that had with a chainsaw as a teenager. He cut one finger off twice. First the tip and then two years later an additional knuckle down. He loves wood working but his table saw has sprayed blood everywhere more than once. Admittedly, he likes a couple of beers when doing it.
So, not having fingers sucks and he got semi functional prosthetic ones fir his "bad hand". Definitely way better function but not perfect.
I just heard he cut his prosthetic fingers with a saw a couple days ago. I think I need to take his tools away at this point. Eventually I'm going to get a call that he completely cut off his arms and legs trying to cut a piece of wood.
Not everyone is cut out to work with their hands. When you barely have hands left, it's time to stop. On the flipside, it's kind of a Chad move. Finger saw goes brrrr.
