The Diploma offered the 12 recipients from SADC member states an opportunity to master qualitative understanding of labour migration governance and protection of migrant workers’ rights through an intensive training course completed by a capstone project

This cohort follows the inaugural 30 graduates who obtained their Diploma in June 2024

SADC’s Technical Committee on Labour Migration (TCLM) meets in Harare, Zimbabwe to discuss Member States’ progress on the implementation of the SADC Labour Migration Action Plan 2020-25. The meeting is co-hosted by IOM, ILO and the SADC Secretariat.
Thank you for that acknowledgement.The National Labour Migration Policy for Zimbabwe is designed to improve the governance of Labour migration,as well as protection and empowerment of migrant workers, among other critical issues.
This theme is particularly pertinent to our discussions. Innovation in labour migration management is crucial. It is through innovative strategies that we can harness the full potential of human mobility to contribute to the industrialisation of the SADC region.
The current chair, Zimbabwe represented by @dav_munikwa noted that the technical meeting is guided by theme of the 44th SADC Summit “ Promoting innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth and development towards an industrialised SADC”
@IOMROpretoria Senior labour Migration Specialist, encouraged Member States to consider the role technology in facilitating labour migration ensuring that we a harness digital tools to streamline processes and enhance overall migration efficiency of migration management

highlighted that 5 Member States already have national labour migration policies which is great progress, however urged Member States to remain steadfast in their efforts, recognizing that the landscape is evolving

Thanks to @EU support, SADC launched the TIPSOM Data System in Zambia after approval in July 2024 by Ministerial Committee of the Organ. The system tackles fragmented data and limited access, streamlining entry, improving accessibility, and empowering stakeholders. #TIP
