I feel like I'm making an announcement at a rapidly emptying party, but I wanted to share some exciting news: I am now an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Psych & Brain Sciences Department at UC Santa Barbara!
I'm deeply excited about supporting & mentoring students, developing engaging neuroscience courses, and working alongside my incredible colleagues in @UCSBpsych
I am so thrilled that UCSB (and the UC system more broadly) has decided to enthusiastically support tenure-track teaching careers - such a unique feature of our system and an obvious way to support educators and students alike!
@neuroecology Our 2 year old just watched Cars 3 in nearly one sitting - never seen him focus on something for that long! Daniel Tiger and Thomas are the other big hits around here.
In light of the childcare Wordle trend, I thought it would be "fun" to illustrate the childcare we've had access to for the past year or so while we both work full-time. Yellow denotes partial care, green is for full day. It's been a brutal year.
And btw, parents still have to pay the full monthly rate even if their kid is out for half the month. We're lucky that it's *only* about $1900 a month for UCSB employees here - I've heard far worse numbers from friends in big cities.
The Sprague Lab has a job opening for a Junior Specialist to help with ongoing projects in the lab. Full ad here: https://t.co/Ay0fqGxs0Z.

new paper from my postdoc work: we found that an attended distractor during spatial WM transiently disrupts neural WM representations, but they recover. importantly, the distractor induced a neural bias in visual, but not parietal, cortex, which predicted behavior recall errors
