@NatalieHernnde6 The content on the Latinas in Media website makes me feel like Latinas have a bigger part in media than usually represented. I appreciate the different content represented and the normality of the articles. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 these videos show a lot of common issues that arise in the Latinx community that is taken as jokes but need to be discussed. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 I like how organic and true they are to themselves and the culture without giving into the stereotypes that others have used to keep an audience's interest. They seem like strong intelligent women. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 I found the idea of "unconventional politics" in relations to minority ethnic groups interesting and it is something that should be more recognized in conversations. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 I understand that we are moving to a new era of Latinas in media but we shouldn’t put down the past because without it we would not be where we are today. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 I am conflicted about the commercial with Sofia Vergara. She is aware of the stereotype that is associated with her but she is using it to her advantage. As she represents Latinos, how far do we hold her accountable for the misrepresentation? #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 This was my first time viewing @iamcardib "I like it" music video and I am impressed. As a fan of hers, I live for her authenticity. The display of togetherness brought together by music and culture in her video was something to applaud. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 Never being able to see her family again must have been so hard, but Celia and her shoes walked out of her struggles and into a new era...her era. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 I feel like I’ve never seen a Latina character like Mylene in media before it was kinda refreshing, her life isn’t typical and it shows a different perspective. I didn’t see a stereotypical Latina but I did find stereotypes in her father. #Latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 Salma Hayek's character Sofia in this episode of Ugly Betty was a depiction of all the wrong Latina stereotypes in media. I felt like I was watching a dramatized novela starring a sexualized dramatic Latina clawing her way to success. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 I did not like the pilot of Ugly Betty. I found it to display a lot of old stereotypes about Latinos. I don't like how Betty is constantly being put down. This show says "even if you're ugly you can make it." which should NOT be the message. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 Some feel that Salma Hayek is not authentic because she is not 100% Mexican but, Frida had a lot of attributes that some people will never have. I feel like being 100% Mexican wouldn't change the complexity and difficulty of portraying Frida. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 Frida’s hardships and obstacles in life couldn’t stop her from growing into the person the world knows her to be. She was bold, unique and strong. Knowing her story I appreciate even more the imprint she left on the world. #Latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 "Latinidad is simultaneously imposed from the outside and reconstructed by the inside through Latina/os..." This quote shows the work that Latinos put into their own community. They are part of the surrounding culture yet still separate. #latinasandmedia
@NatalieHernnde6 Real Women Have Curves displays what it truly means to accept and love yourself the way you are born. Although Ana faced difficulties with her mother denying her she still did everything she could to stay true to herself.
