Help us, help our child, Minister.

the parents of Sophie Redmond make a plea to their TD and the Minister for Health @CarrollJennifer to publish the section of the Nayagam Report pertaining to their daughter.
Sophie's health and wellbeing and that of all the children caught up in this investigation, must come first.

An internal report obtained by The Ditch has exposed hospital consultants prioritising private child patients over those on public lists – with public patients forced to wait significantly longer for vital surgery.

For some families, having a child in hospital means counting every euro.
Food.
Parking.
Fuel.
Child care.
Missed work etc …
Some families resorted to GoFundMe campaigns to get their child treated abroad after being told funding wasn’t available. @CarrollJennifer
They were told there were rules.
They were told funding wasn’t possible.
They were told the process didn’t allow it.
That’s why today’s reporting is a shameful reflection on CHI.
Families who spent years being told what couldn’t be done for their child while management in @CHI_Ireland did what they pleased. @CarrollJennifer@SimonHarrisTD@SBH_PAG #backus
Anita Little calls for health minister to fast-track statutory inquiry after Harvey Morrison Sherratt case — and says ‘I 100pc will be willing to testify’
Ms Little's solicitor, Caoimhe Haughey, said
"Anita is one of the most impressive people I've had the privilege to work with. I'm truly delighted that this particular journey has come to an end with her vindication. and I look forward to working with her again."
Thank you to Maeve Sheehan of the Sunday Independent for covering Anita's story this morning.
Our son has been suspended from the active CHI spinal waiting list twice since November 24.
1st suspension was incorrect, only came to light because we asked his status.
No written notification.
Years of reports, reviews & recommendations, nothing has changed.
@CarrollJennifer
Harvey’s removal from that spinal list was entirely cruel and unjustified. It feels like he was written off by the people who were supposed to be keeping him safe. 2 years now since he was removed and almost a year now since he died and we still have no answers from CHI. I find it incredibly concerning that the same person who removed Harvey from that list is still working away and making clinical decisions about other vulnerable children. How do we know he hasn’t continued to behave like this even after Anita left?
Have the other families of children wrongfully removed even been informed by CHI? Did they get relisted? Are they still under the care of the same person that instructed their removal?
This inquiry needs to uncover everything, if they try and limit the scope of ot then they are choosing to allow children continue to be neglected.

In my view.

Maternity Healthcare
“Women’s Health Care in maternal settings should be treated according to need not wealth” - that is not a choice, that is a medical ethical and moral duty of care.
Both Sarah Carey and Eilish O’Regan of the Irish Independent have written about the Rotunda Hospital escalating maternal care controversy, likely heading to the Courts with Arthur Cox on board for the Master Daly of the Rotunda. And we the tax payer will pay for that.
Over the last 20 years acting for mothers and their babies who have tragically suffered fatal and life altering consequences of medical negligence in childbirth, it is a well known fact that when errors are made by private consultants, those mistakes are indemnified (insured) by the State Claims Agency.
If private fees are paid to Consultants availing of public health resources, then those private fees, must go to funding the costs of indemnity and insurance.
In all other professions, it is the professionals personal indemnity insurance that pays for errors, not the public purse.

Vindicated.
So happy that Anita Little @anitatlittle has had her position vindicated, and awarded a substantial sum today.
A woman of honesty & integrity who we will be hearing more from soon.

We are very pleased with today's result for our client, Ms.Anita Little.
Approval has been obtained from two Government departments for a successful mediation process of an employment dispute between Children’s Health Ireland (#CHI) and a former business manager, the High Court heard. - Tim Healy
It followed repeated complaints about the delay in approving the mediation deal between CHI and Anita Little over her purported dismissal in August 2025.
She claimed she was dismissed as business manager as a result of an instruction by her superiors to delist 10 patients from the CHI spinal surgery waiting list. She said her dismissal followed a flawed investigation.
On Thursday, the court was told the approval of the two departments had been obtained, that Ms Little has now resigned as part of the deal in which Mr Kean said she had received a very substantial sum as part of the settlement.
Her barrister, Richard Kean SC, instructed by Caoimhe Haughey solicitor, made a number of complaints to Mr Justice Brian Cregan about the delay from the government departments in approving the settlement.

Our son was denied funding for surgery in London by a highly respected spinal surgeon.
It would have cost a fraction of the average spend now reported under international outsourcing.
At the time, no outsourcing option was offered to our child.
@CarrollJennifer@SimonHarrisTD
This is an excellent piece by one of the very best in investigative journalism. When I spoke with a journalist a number of years ago pertaining to the unlawful implanting of unauthorised artifacts (springs) and the likely fraudulent activities surrounding unnecessary hip procedures, I intimidated that all things indicated an organic and systemic issue in our healthcare system. Here we are, again, and there’s more to come. #IrelandIsBroken
@CarrollJennifer@CcoHse@HSELive
Up dates regarding the #NayagamReport long overdue for many child/young adults and their families.
How long does it take to investigate the practice of one surgeon, which commenced 3 years ago, including concerning non medical grade springs inserted into children’s bodies?
A High Court judge wants two government departments to answer why no decision has been made on whether to approve a successful mediation process of an employment dispute between Children's Health Ireland (#CHI) and a business manager. Ann O’Loughlin
Nearly three months since mediation of the dispute between CHI and Anita Little over her purported dismissal, the Departments of Health and of Public Expenditure and Reform have still not approved the settlement, Mr Justice Brian Cregan was told on Friday.
Mr Justice Cregan said what concerned him was that court time had initially been allocated to hear the injunction and was vacated when it went to mediation. "I don't, for the life of me, understand why consent (from the departments) cannot be obtained in three months."
He agreed with Mr Kean that "temperatures were being raised" because the departments "do not apply their minds" to the matter.

This is shocking, Irish funerals are sacred spaces for mourning and sharing memories,we don’t put a timer on them, the people of Ardee parish need to explain and remind this Italian priest to be more respectful, cutting someone off during reflection at such a vulnerable moment shows a shocking lack of empathy and pastoral sensitivity.

Update:
Following today's appearance before Justice Creegan. 15/05/26
In the High Court today, Mr Justice Cregan directed the lawyers representing Ms Anita Little, Plaintiff and Defendant, Children’s Health Ireland to write to the Minister for Health and the Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform requesting their attendance in Court on the 4th June 2026.
Mr Justice Cregan stated that he will consider joining the Ministers as Notice Parties to the proceedings which have been ongoing since October 2025 and following mediation in February 2026.
@scolionetwork@SimonHarrisTD My child is still waiting. @SimonHarrisTD@CarrollJennifer
Removed from the CHI spinal surgery waiting list despite:
no surgery date
no surgical plan
no surgery elsewhere
no notification to our family
How is a child removed from a waiting list while still waiting for surgery?
