The Inspector-General of Police stated this at the Signing of the Peace Accord by political parties and Governorship candidates organized by the National Peace Commission ahead of the 2026 off-cycle Governorship election slated for 20.06.2026.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, received Her Excellency Ambassador Jainaba Jagne, Special Envoy for Children Affected by Armed Conflict (CAAC), alongside an international delegation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the protection of schools and educational institutions across Africa.
The visit formed part of a strategic study tour of the Nigeria Police Force Schools Protection Squad Command and Control Centre under the framework of the Safe Schools Declaration (SSD). The delegation comprised representatives from Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, and Ethiopia, as well as officials of the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) and Save the Children International.
Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Jainaba Jagne commended the Nigeria Police Force for its commitment to school safety and noted that several African countries were looking to understudy and adapt the Nigerian Safe Schools model. She stated that member states across the African Union had shown strong interest in Nigeria’s initiative as part of broader continental efforts to strengthen the protection of children and educational institutions affected by insecurity and armed conflict.
In his remarks, the Inspector-General of Police reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the full implementation of the Safe Schools Declaration through sustained collaboration with educational authorities, development partners, and relevant stakeholders. He stated that the Force would continue to deploy intelligence-led strategies, patrol operations, rapid response mechanisms, and technology-driven solutions to ensure the safety of schools nationwide.
IGP Disu expressed appreciation to the visiting delegation for recognising Nigeria’s efforts in advancing school security and child protection, while reiterating the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to support collaborative regional initiatives aimed at strengthening educational safety across the African continent.

In line with the directives of IGP Olatunji Disu, psc(+), NPM @TunjiDisu1, I undertook an assessment visit to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) @PoliceNG_CRU today. The visit advanced into a review meeting with the Head and personnel of the Unit.

The Commissioner of Police, Schools Protection Squad, Force Headquarters Abuja, CP Abayomi Shogunle PhD, received the Country Director of Save the Children, Duncan Harvey, alongside members of the Senior Management Team, on a courtesy visit on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police. The visit forms part of Save Children ongoing collaboration with the Squad to strengthen implementation of the Safe School Declaration and to enhance coordinated security mechanism aimed at protecting education across Nigeria.
The Country Director commended the Nigeria Police School Protection Squad (SPS), noting that the Squad has been instrumental in advancing Nigeria's national agenda to address the challenges facing children, while ensuring they learn in safe, secure, and violence free environments.
He stated in his remark that Nigeria has been recognised globally as a leader in Safe Schools implementation and in furtherance of this, Save the Children is supporting the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) to host a high-level state-to-state exchange visit of foreign delegates to Nigeria to understudy the successful implementation model in Nigeria during which the Nigeria Police Schools Protection Squad will play a central role in showcasing Nigeria's model, operational structures, and
field level impact.
As one of the global champions for protecting education from attack, Norway, has also indicated interest in Nigeria's progress. Following the Fifth International Safe Schools Declaration Conference held in Kenya last year, the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Norway, alongside the Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Norway, is planning a visit to Nigeria. The delegation will visit the Schools Protection Squad Headquarters to gain deeper understanding of its operations and the commendable work being done in protecting education.
In his remarks, CP Abayomi Shogunle PhD, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening school protection, community safety, and sustained collaboration with educational stakeholders.

· called on Lawyers to always act as real Ministers in the Temple of Justice, abide by the Rules of Professional Practice and the Duty of Candour,
· enjoined the National Judicial Council (NJC) to sanction Judges who issue frivolous orders, and
· urged the Nigerian Bar Association Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) to sanction lawyers who deliberately fill absurd, partisan and frivolous suits. #DrSho
