@JagexJack@Vengance183@JamesDolphino @JagexOrion @Blizziadev You seem to forget that quite a lot of players belonging to those minorities are voicing that they didn't want these changes either and that these changes even go at cost of them, at what point most people would start wondering whether they did the right thing.
@JagexJack @JagexOrion @Vengance183@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev And your job in no way involves replying to feedback regarding the changes you as game developer put in?
Score points? For what? I don't follow many people, I don't aim for followers. People including me have been trying to discuss this, and all you do is try to pick a fight.
@JagexJack @JagexOrion @Vengance183@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Fantastic, I expect to see you on the forums on Monday then. I'm not interested in following social media for game updates, that's what the forums should be for. I'd love to see your argument of 'it is boomer humour' pitched there.
@JagexJack @JagexOrion @Vengance183@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev I'm glad to hear this entertains you. If you have to resort to trying to pick a fight with players to defend your calls where you are asked for arguments, that speaks for itself.
@JagexJack @JagexOrion @Vengance183@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Do you mean the one you asked 20 minutes ago, while you took a good 3 days to reply to my initial question, and will probably never reply to the people asking questions on the forums?
@JagexOrion @JagexJack@Vengance183@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Except that we're not seeing much science or logic, just a lot of opinion and very few arguments to back it up.
Handpicking arguments that you can backfire and ignoring those you can't is not science, quite the opposite.
@JagexJack@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Not by definition. Changes shouldn't be made over one opinion, but as a result of an exchange of thoughts & arguments. I think the players on the forums deserve to be aknowledged and get a reply with your arguments. The forums are the official Jagex feedback platform after all.
@JagexJack@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Not literally, yet the word 'racism' seems to be thrown around a lot towards those who disagree with you. I haven't received an answer to 2 questions: did you look at RGU forums at all, and how would you respond to players of these population groups who are upset by the changes?
@Bjoerun_@JagexJack@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Bjoerun, did you report those players when it happened or otherwise provided Jagex with names and context of what happened?
@JagexJack@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev Very interesting, it's almost like not everyone feels the same as that person. Out of curiosity, when was the last time you had a look at the Recent Game Updates forum, that Jagex-hosted platform for game feedback? You'll find quite a few posts like this one:
@JagexJack@JamesDolphino @Blizziadev The purpose of diversity is not to justify taking offence in the stead of an entire group of people without knowing their stance on it.
Do you genuinely feel that you respected these groups after so many players of these groups voiced that it's your changes that are offensive?
@2_Pi_RS @JagexJack ^This.
This was something people were proud of, and someone else decided to take offense in their stead to get it removed. When those people & others call you out on this, they are 'wrong and racists'. I'm sorry, but there is nothing diverse or tolerant about that.
@Wahisietel@JagexJack None of the ethnical groups do, but that doesn't mean referencing to them is a bad thing, as long as it's not offensive, and that is exactly what I question here.
Jack: 'Gypsy' is racism
Players of Gypsy heritage: No, it's not and we like this reference?
Jack: You're wrong.
@Wahisietel@JagexJack Aris features in a quest that revolves around fortune telling, a trade Romani people still practice and have done so for centuries. For her to have the name 'gypsy' doesn't just provide quest NPC identification, but also character background.
@JagexJack By the way, I genuinely hope you will still look at the arguments of those people who you feel 'are wrong'. Who knows, maybe they might be more right than you think, in which case true bravery would be adapting your opinion, not enforcing it anyways.
@JagexJack What would you respond though to players from (their phrasing) 'Gypsy' heritage, who feel that this is a perfectly normal phrase and were proud of the reference? Is diversity not about proudly reflecting and respecting the different cultures out there instead of suppressing them?
