Thanks @loreldridge for teaching us land law in its social context. To me, land law is like the yin and yang: it is both an economic asset, as well as socially important property, and the law jostles to find a balance between those two facets.

Inspired by this, I asked students for metaphors for land law. After a crazy hard term, I got another brilliant poem, a song about easements (and lesson in music theory), land law as Astrophysics, as comfort food, as a mandala, and as a shared bed. My undergrads are so awesome.
