DH has really helped me practice writing, particularly for the average reader. It's not often that a class encourages brevity and clarity so much. I'm glad to have the experience I gained from this class, and I'm very happy with how my grant proposal turned out.

@AdaChicas3 Same for me. I have several things from high school I need to remove. It makes sense that those things wouldn't matter much anymore, but I'm going to have to brainstorm some new things to put on the resume so it doesn't look empty.

It's interesting that the IRG rubric says a grant must address a specific issue in the discipline. This won't require any big change in my grant, but I will make sure to further emphasize the societal issue at large that my grant aims to help solve.

I found the guest speaker's talk about Grant Proposals very informative.

One thing he brought up, which I thought was interesting is how, to be approved, a DH Grant needs to prove its usefulness to humanity.

I will have this in mind while doing future work on my proposal.

I couldn't do the peer review, but I found a few great sources for my Grant project about the relationship between class and religion.

From skimming them, it seems wealth is negatively associated with religious beliefs, but there are many extraneous factors to consider.

@JuliaBcnu2022 This sounds like a great idea.

School lunches include some greens, but they're so unappetizing that kids build the idea that healthy food tastes gross.

The meals are small too. Many kids don't eat enough at home, which makes it especially important to feed them well at school.

Of the 2021 DH Awards we looked through in class, one that really stood out to me was https://t.co/TW4voggLJb.

I was impressed by the visual presentation of this site. The menus to navigate were also very minimalist. I appreciate the effort that was put into the user experience.

@RMS_NOVA Yes. A lot of us get a little self conscious about our writing. But, at the end of the day we all know we're reading a rough draft so hopefully we aren't judging each other so hard.

I always appreciate a good peer review, because it usually guarantees a good grade.

I found that today's peer review was definitely helpful for perfecting my XML file. Although I do regret not being ready with a draft of my blog post as I missed out on getting feedback on that.

I found XML to be pretty easy to understand; It's very similar to Markdown, although I wouldn't say it's as intuitive. I'm sure many of us were helped by the fact that we learned Markdown first.

It's always nice to have a second pair of eyes look at your work. My writing always ends up more refined after a peer review. I guess I should probably start going to the writing center.🤷‍♂️#cnuengl350

The Hemingway App let me know that I occasionally overly use certain words. This app isn't perfect, but it's definitely a useful tool to know about. #cnuengl350

I liked Shitty First Drafts because I agree that a first draft doesn't need to be polished. I do find it useful, however, to plan a general structure before writing the first draft. That way, you need to do less work to organize your paper later. #cnuengl350

@Kobe_Smith2022 That's an interesting thought. I wonder how eye tracking data will play into upcoming technology like augmented reality, especially if AR devices will be gathering their own eye tracking data.

As a Marketing major, I find the eye tracking article interesting because that kind of data could help companies optimize their ad placement and webpage design. #cnuengl350

From the Heppler page, I read so many definitions of DH that were long and wordy, but my favorite was,

"DH involves the use of computers either to conduct humanities research or to communicate its results."

I like that one because it's short, simple, and true.

Hey class. I'm a bit late to this, but I'm a senior and a marketing major. I'm interested in Digital Humanities because I think everything will eventually be integrated with technology. #cnuengl350
