The scene in Interstellar in which Mathew McConaughey’s character watches the videos of his children, his performance is extremely emotional. However, many make fun of his over-exaggerated reactions. This is evidence that we can find humor even in the darkest of places. #1B69

Often in Sci-Fi movies that depict a futuristic earth, the writers set up the government to be leaning much more towards either libertarianism or socialism. In Interstellar, the pseudo-socialist farming policies and lack of space exploration means a lack of privatization of space

Throughout the writing of my essay on Frankenstein, I realized how carefully crafted the book really is. Mary Shelley is very consistent in the way that these characters act. The main character is static, b/c it is about what already happened rather than victor improving. #1B69

The verbal battle that takes place between the monster and victor in the final chapter of volume II really shows the ways that this monster has grown and exactly how intelligent he is. The creature settled in his favor in an argument with a renown scientist. #1B69

The guilt that the children feel for locking Margot in the closet while the 2 hours of summer went on is a guilt that many people know all too well. A harmless prank gone too far. The story is relatable despite its sci-fi setting. #1B69

The first time I saw Edward Scissorhands, I thought it was about a man with scissors for hands trying to function in society After seeing it in the context of this class, however, I know it is about much more than that. It has themes of weather and a commentary on society. #1B69

Going into Chasing Ice, I thought it would be a purely scientific documentary. But after watching the entirety of the film, I realized that Balog’s journey was not only a physical one, but an emotional one.

Prior to reading Adriene Hill’s article, I believed that social media only had a negative effect on the environment. After reading the article, I know that social media has the potential to aid the environment. However, I still believe that it harms more han helps. #1B69
