In practice, this would mean that iPhone users who want Premium would have to bear Apple’s commission, even though those tokens never go to the Iris project.

That’s why we chose a different path: building IrisApp as a Telegram Mini App.

Their interpretation is that Premium access qualifies as a paid digital service and should therefore be processed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.

If someone no longer wants Premium access, they can simply unstake their tokens. The tokens remain their property at all times.

Despite explaining this distinction to Apple, our approach was not accepted.

IrisApp does not collect or receive any of those tokens. Staking is only used as proof that the user meets the Premium requirements.

In other words, this is not a subscription where users pay the project.
