The only GMOs in the country are under confinement for research purposes only. Those tasty local foods of "yours" were bred by NARO scientists too.

New high-yielding Rice variety released: A new Rice variety, known as the WDR-73 variety with medium maturity (130 days to maturity) and yield of 9.5 to 10 tonnes per hectare has been officially released at a ceremony held in Kampala.
