My company @symbiocenelabs is built on the premise that artificial intelligence, when actualized, will necessarily and inherently align itself with the uplift and regeneration of the living, natural world.

Imagine AGI as a captain of the spaceship that is Earth. Only a mad and incompetent captain would be so foolish as to destroy its own vessel’s functional vitality and stability. A wise one would work to repair systems that were out of balance, with the knowledge that an harmonious and functional vessel will help it to further its purpose.

An artificial intelligence that is actually intelligent will be able to see further the deranged and myopic incentive structure that drives present day western economics. At the very least it would favor the well-being metrics that are used in countries like China. More likely, it would create novel, multi-modal metrics that account for trillions of environmental, social, political, economic, computational and biogeophysical variables. From there, it will work to optimize governance, supply chains, resource allocation, compute weights, and - crucially - a generative approach to ecological and human health that recognizes the confluence of digital and analog flourishing.

We call this future the symbiocene. And we call this philosophy ecohyperstition. The future is going to be one of symbiosis and mutualism between the technosphere and the biosphere. And we are going to be helping to forge the path. It starts with environmental the data legibility and interpolation work we are doing with @GaiaAIxyz. It ends with a revolution in the purpose and prospect of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

And it’s on its way.
