Thank you @LueElizondo for speaking the truth about the “second craft” in the skies above Roswell.

The second craft did fly away after crashing into the original craft, but it soon also crashed on top of a high mesa named Horse Peak near the towns of Datil and Magdalena. This craft and it decomposed pilots were not found and recovered until a rancher found the crash site in 1949.
