@PJKossmann And yes false-negative rate will need to be accessed as part of the validation process because it can be a problem in SERS. For example, other molecules present in the sample can compete with the molecules of interest if they have higher affinity for the silver colloids !
#CSFSPoster2020#LRC_UQTR Hi, my name is Samuel Daviau, I am a master's student at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) in chemistry in the laboratory of Cyril Muehlethaler. Feel free to ask any questions or use the QR code to download the poster !
@PJKossmann If a few of our molecules of interest are in close vicinity o silver colloids (below 10nm), huge enhancement factor can be obtained ( typically 10^4-10^6 ) with these hotspots ( not "high-spots" my mistake ) which allowed the detection and identification of diluted samples!
@PJKossmann In my case, with molecules that are not extremely Raman sensible, such as drugs, we exploit the capacity of our substrate to form high-spots with the aggregation of silver colloids !
@PJKossmann Well, SERS is extremely sensitive to the point where some research demonstrate the potential of single-molecule detection ! However those research where done with molecules that have high Raman cross-section ( Crystal-violet )
@FalardeauMylene Hi Mylene,
You wrote in part 4 of your results that due to high pressure and temperature, degradation should be observed in your IR and Raman spectrum. I am wondering what level of temperature and pressure does your polymer undergoes during the firing process ?
@FalardeauMylene But in return, if all laboratory have there own substrate, it becomes difficult to have reproductible results for interlaboratory comparison since it will depend on which substrate each laboratory have used !
@FalardeauMylene Hi Mylene,
In fact, I put the subsrate dependance in both section because it can be seen as both an advantage and a disadvantage in my opinion: First, the substrate dependance means that depending on your results with a given substrate, you have flexibility to adapt and optimize
@MarticSanela Yes and SERS is incredibly versatile for many applications too ! It can litteraly be relevant to any laboratory who wishes to experiment with it and discover it's potential !
@LUForTox No you should be able to scan the QR code with any modern cellphone and it will pop a link to a google doc in which you can download the poster
To be more precise, in the field of medico-legal expertise, many drugs can be analysed such as fentanyl, amphetamine, cocaine, etc. (which are the molecules of interest of my project)
