“The world will not change until we change it.” — Late Dr. Paul Farmer
Earlier today, First Lady Mrs Jeannette Kagame, together with Mr Bill Gates, Founder and Chair of the Gates Foundation, joined Paul E. Farmer #ButaroDialogues on Health Equity and Innovation, hosted by @ughe_org and the @coms_africa, in partnership with the Gates Foundation.
The Butaro Dialogues is a biennial platform that brings together global health leaders, innovators, investors, policymakers, African academic institutions, and the next generation of health professionals in Rwanda to turn research and new ideas into better, more equitable healthcare.
This inaugural edition focused on one of today’s most urgent priorities: closing the gap between proven innovations and their implementation in maternal and newborn health.

“For decades, Rwanda was shaped by a deliberate system of exclusion, fear, and division. The purpose of the liberation struggle was to restore what had been taken away: the right of Rwandans to live in dignity.
However, the ideas behind the genocide have not disappeared completely. They persist in different forms, and remain present across our region. We have seen, and suffered too much to ever take this threat lightly.
Security and good governance are the foundation of everything we have built. Security is a matter of survival, not external approval. Without it, nothing else holds together. That is why we remain vigilant and firm.
What happened here will never happen again, for one simple reason: we will not allow it.”President Kagame | #Kwibohora32
Today we celebrate Rwanda’s Liberation Day, a turning point that restored dignity, hope, and unity. We honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you to my sister President @SuluhuSamia for the warm welcome to Tanzania and for the productive discussions.
Rwanda and Tanzania are not only neighbors but brotherly countries bound by history and a shared goal of prosperity for our people. Rwanda remains committed to building on this strong foundation by deepening our bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, infrastructure, logistics, energy, and regional integration.
I look forward to continuing our collaboration to achieve tangible results for our citizens and advance the East African Community.
This evening at Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, President Kagame attended the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg between #VisitRwanda partners Arsenal Football Club @Arsenal and Atlético Madrid Football Club @Atleti, which ended in a 1–1 draw.
Minister @onduhungirehe is in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for a working visit.
During his visit, he held a bilateral meeting with H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which he handed over a letter from H.E. President Paul Kagame to H.R.H. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
They also discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to further strengthen the longstanding ties between Rwanda and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including in investment, infrastructure, and energy.
“We find these powers who want to impress upon us that we really don’t have much, we don’t mean much, we can only survive because of them. This notion has to be challenged, and has to be challenged by all of us.” President Kagame #WPC2026
