In 1985, Illinois corn farmer Herman Warsaw is pictured standing in a field with his record-breaking harvest, which reached an extraordinary 370 bushels per acre.

His achievement was especially remarkable given where it began. When Warsaw and his family purchased the farm in 1941, the soil was depleted and yielding only around 38 bushels per acre. Rather than accept those limits, he spent decades rebuilding the land through careful soil management and intensive study of crop production. His approach emphasized deep root development, soil fertility, optimal plant spacing, residue management, and continuously identifying and removing constraints on yield.

By 1985, he achieved 370 bushels per acre on a measured, non-irrigated test plot—a world record at the time. The result was particularly striking because it depended entirely on natural rainfall and soil capacity, requiring roots capable of reaching deep moisture reserves during dry periods.

Warsaw gained widespread recognition among farmers and agricultural researchers, who viewed his fields as a living experiment. Visitors from around the world came to observe his methods and learn how exhausted farmland could be transformed into highly productive soil systems.

Between 1975 and 1989, his test plots averaged 274 bushels per acre, demonstrating that the 1985 record was not an anomaly but the outcome of a long-term, consistent agricultural system.

Listen, moron, we've all seen the video. It's so blatant and egregious in how terribly your officers behaved that it could and should be used as teaching material for what policing should NOT look like.

A white man was being attacked by a pack of blacks. What did your officers do? The female cop jumped in to tackle the man who was attacked just seconds ago WHILE HE WAS STILL GETTING UP FROM BLOWS BY HIS ASSAILANTS. She did this without identifying herself and without any clear reason. The man had zero time or opportunity to process who this new assailant was and immediately stopped once he realised that this new person was in fact a police officer (a dumb and incompetent officer at that). Your officers then proceeded to arrest the man while letting his assailants leave the scene with zero attempts to apprehend them. During the arrest they behaved stupidly, unprofessionally and extremely incompetently - they swore at him, insulted him and try to cram him into a car the wrong way. At the time there was roughly 8 officers, all to arrest and swear at one man.

The fact that you see no issue with this conduct confirms that your entire force is unfit for purpose, should be disbanded and most of you should probably be in prison if we're honest.

Every few weeks somebody rediscovers the Amish like they're a hidden DLC character in American politics.

The Amish don't assimilate into modern society. Correct. They also don't demand that you give up yours. Assimilation is not the issue by itself. It's shorthand for something much larger.

The Amish don't spend their weekends gluing themselves to highways demanding the rest of us abandon electricity. They don't firebomb data centers because somebody installed fiber internet. They don't organize marches insisting Ford recall every F-150 because horses are morally superior. They don't sabotage power plants. They don't campaign to outlaw smartphones. They don't scream that your pickup truck is violence. They don't insist Congress mandate horse-and-buggy quotas.

They do something that is about as American as you can get: "Y'all have fun with your civilization. We'll be over here churning butter."

They built their own communities, accepted the tradeoffs, and ask to be left alone. It's almost as though "living differently yourself" and "forcing everyone else to live differently" are two completely different concepts.

I know. It's a shocking development. Scientists are looking into it.
