We don’t need many people to transform Uganda’s tourism sector we need a few leaders who truly understand the game.
A great example is when the Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa (@Thomas_Tayebwa) , confirmed his attendance at the Rwenzori Marathon( @RwenzoriMarathn) last year. He didn’t keep it to himself. Instead, he reached out to leaders in Kenya, including Deputy speaker of the Kenyan parliament Hon. Gladys
From there, the message spread fast.
Kenya has a strong culture of recreational running people travel for fitness, leisure, and tourism. When their leadership embraced the marathon, they didn’t just attend they mobilized entire running communities.
By the time they arrived in Uganda, they came in numbers. And it didn’t stop there.
Those same runners became ambassadors. They shared their experiences, told their stories, and inspired even more people back home. Now, we’re seeing growing interest and even bigger numbers expected from Kenya in the upcoming editions of the marathon.
This is the power of leadership that understands visibility, networks, and storytelling.
It’s not always about massive budgets it’s about intentional influence.
I take this opportunity to appreciate Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa for his continued efforts in promoting Uganda beyond our borders. His actions are not just symbolic they translate into real impact, supporting local businesses, boosting tourism, and creating opportunities for millions.
Step into the heart of Uganda's tropical forests and encounter our closest relatives in the wild. Watch chimpanzees swing through the trees, communicate, play, and thrive in their natural habitat. [email protected]#ChimpanzeeTracking#VisitUganda#ExploreUganda
Safari dreams and wild scenes. Who would you bring on this adventure? #TravelUganda#BucketListSafari #WildernessExperience#bookings@samuwaadventuresafaris
Had a great time engaging with the Tanzania Tourism Board( TTB) , Girls in Tourism ( @GITA_Africa ) , UTALI Hub, and other key stakeholders from Kenya, South Africa, and Tanzania yesterday morning.
It was inspiring to share ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration. These conversations reinforced the importance of working together to develop regional marketing strategies that showcase the diverse tourism experiences our countries offer.
By joining efforts, we can strengthen East and Southern Africa’s tourism brand, attract more international visitors, and create sustainable opportunities for businesses and communities across the region.
