I am looking for a few Research Volunteers to join me for the “Hyderabad Gen Z Sentiment Survey”, an independent and self-financed research project that aims to understand the aspirations, concerns, discontents and views of young people towards politics, policies and institutions.

Students and faculty members from Hyderabad who can help collect responses from 17–29 year olds in colleges, universities and localities around Hyderabad are welcome to join hands with me. Volunteers will receive limited monetary support based on verified Google Form responses, a certificate, and an opportunity to work on research papers based on the collected data.

The project will run from 30 August to 15 September 2026, with flexible working hours. If you are interested, please scan the QR code in the poster or use the Google Form link to apply: https://t.co/dkFTvdYCxR

Beyond Classroom: Teacher’s Emotional Journey

As a teacher, one of the hardest moments for me is when I hear the struggles of my students as they navigate the challenging world of job markets, seeking the positions they deserve. It is a pain that cuts deep, knowing how much talent, dedication, and hard work they bring to the table, yet the doors often remain closed.

I remember a time when a student approached me with a rather thought-provoking question: “When and why does a dominant ruling party lose power?” It was a question that invited reflection, and I took a moment before responding.

I explained that ruling parties, regardless of their dominance, can find themselves on the losing end of an election when they begin to see their victory as permanent. This overconfidence leads them to overlook signs of growing dissent among the party cadres and electorate, ignore the undercurrents of anti-incumbency, and fail to take proactive measures to address these issues.

As the reality of their potential defeat becomes undeniable, these parties often resort to hasty, panic-driven responses, which only seal their fate, culminating in their eventual defeat at the polls.

From the Bench to the Ballot:

Calcutta High Court Judge #AbhijitGangopadhyay recently resigned to pursue a career in active politics, with indications suggesting he may join the BJP and possibly run in the Lok Sabha elections. The right of individuals, including judges, to engage in political life is fundamental. However, the transition from judge to politician must be balanced against the potential impact on public trust in the judicial system and the integrity of judicial processes.

It’s better not to be grateful to any leader or political party at the cost of liberty and critical thinking.

Today, the Speaker disqualified 6 Congress MLAs for cross-voting in #HimachalPradesh. Recently, the Speaker declined to disqualify Shinde’s group MLAs in #Maharashtra.

This illustrates that the Speaker’s decisions often align with the ruling party’s interests.

Who are the anonymous donors contributing over 16000 crores to pol. parties so far?

—Hope, the #ElectionCommission shares its report without delay.
—Parliament shouldn't overturn the court's decision with a new law.

Hope, constitutional wisdom will prevail.

#ElectoralBonds

[Afroz Alam @afrozalam2]

After invalidating #ElectoralBonds, it's now crucial that political parties become subject to RTI regulations.
It would enable citizens to obtain insights into party finances, decision-making, and policies, fostering more informed electoral choices.
