Every new tech wave sparks a domain rush:

• In the 90s, it was .com.
• In the 2010s, it was .io, .co, and .ai.
• Now, it’s Web3 names like .eth, .crypto, and .xyz.

The question is how much of it is hype, and how much is real opportunity?

Hype is easy to spot.

NFT and metaverse domains spiked when the headlines did…and thousands of domains were dropped once the hype cooled.

AI, crypto, and Web3 domains have moved in the same way.

Speculation has driven up registrations, but speculation doesn’t necessarily build lasting value.

But, here’s where real value shows up:
• .ai → now the default for AI startups
• .xyz → thriving in Web3 + AI circles
• .eth → functional as an Ethereum wallet address
• .crypto + .wallet → traction w/ Unstoppable Domains

But adoption is the gap.

✅ Type https://t.co/ARSXjjMCF6 in Chrome, it loads.

❌ Type vitalik.eth, nothing happens.

Until blockchain domains are integrated into browsers, search, and email, they stay speculative.

History tells the same story:
• .biz and .mobi fizzled.
• .io and .co found niches.
• .ai matured into a real standard.

The lesson: hype drives registrations. Adoption builds value.

For now, .ai and .xyz look durable.
