The whole point of bringing this issue here was the inability of Customer Relations team to provide us with the compensation. It’s way easier to be sorry about the disappointment while you have nothing to lose whereas we put our life savings for this @FIFAWorldCup experience and lost everything because of shittiest service provided by your airline. I’m sorry to say but this has been the worst experience of my life and will never fly @AmericanAir in my whole life and will tell everyone around me never travel on this airline.
Dear @AmericanAir,
On July 6, we were Travelling from New York to Dallas for one reason: to attend the Portugal vs Spain @FIFA World Cup match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (2:00 PM kickoff). I flew all the way from India and planned this trip months in advance to fulfill a lifelong dream of watching Cristiano Ronaldo play live.
Our itinerary was carefully planned:
AA763 (JFK → Austin) was scheduled to depart around 6:59 AM and arrive 10:08 AM.
We had a connecting flight from Austin to Dallas at around 10:42 AM, scheduled to land at 11:56 AM Dallas time, giving us enough time to reach AT&T Stadium before kickoff.
Instead, AA763 was delayed because of crew and maintenance issues, eventually departing at 11:49 AM (4 hours 50 minutes late) and arriving in Austin at 3:34 PM (5 hours 26 minutes late), making our connection impossible.
As soon as we learned about the delay, we requested to be moved to the 8:15 AM nonstop flight to Dallas, a solution that would have allowed us to keep our plans and make it to the match. Our request was denied.
Because of that decision, we missed the game completely. We lost our match tickets, hotel costs, transportation, and other miscellaneous expenses. More importantly, we lost what may have been our only opportunity to see Cristiano Ronaldo play live after traveling halfway across the world.
We’ve spent weeks trying to resolve this directly with American Airlines and receive fair compensation, but we still haven’t received a fair resolution.
Delays can happen. What hurts is that there was a reasonable alternative that could have saved our trip, and we weren’t allowed to take it.
We hope @AmericanAir reviews our case and makes this right by figuring a fair compensation and rebuilding the trust in them.
