@tcm just ran a trailer for Grand Hotel between showings of The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity. I never got - and by now never will - the appeal of Greta Garbo.
There’s a bit in my new Mark Slade mystery, The Camelot Trail (out this fall), where Slade, trying to get a femme-fatale out of his system, takes a page from Fred McMurray in Double Indemnity: “I dropped by a bowling alley at Third and Western and rolled a few lines.”
@elonmusk@John_Reddick@GadSaad I would love to write a movie about the Spanish Civil War depicting the sheer evil of the Loyalists side, but I’ve always known Hollywood and the Left would balk at it.
Watching Airport on @tcm for the first time in maybe 40 years. I know Helen Hayes won the 1971 Best Supporting Actress Oscar but she’s the worst thing in it. And her long scene early on slows the movie to a crawl.
